Chapter One
The skyline looked peaceful in the light of the setting sun. Alexander wiped his sweaty palms on his pants as he waited for his best friend to come home. He had planned it all out perfectly. Their roommates, Lafayette and Hercules, were out with some of their other friends. They had the apartment all to themselves for the night and Alex was going to use the time wisely. He was going to ask John out.
The sound of the door unlocking was heard and the twenty-year-old instantly tensed up.
"Hey, Alex." John sighed as he walked in. Alex's classes that day had all been in the morning, but John's were in the afternoon, so he was just getting home. He was exhausted.
"L-Long day?" The smaller man asked nervously, attempting small talk.
"Yeah." John sighed. "I'm really not in the mood to go get drunk with the boys and Angelica."
Alex smiled slightly. "I wasn't planning on it. I had something to ask you, actually."
"Yeah?" John asked, looking down at the lovely man. He had had a crush on his best friend since high school, but never had the courage to tell him.
"I-I-" Alex was so nervous.
John furrowed his brow as the man fidgeted in front of him. What was he so nervous about?
"I..."
"Alex, you can ask me anything. You know that." Laurens said gently.
Alexander walked to the small couch and sat. "I don't know how to do this."
John sat next to him and grabbed his hand, staring into his eyes, concerned. "What is it?"
Alex melted at the chocolate brown eyes that smoldered back at him. "Will you... go out with me?"
A small gasp left John's lips as his eyes widened in surprise. "I-YES!"
"Really?"
"YES! Absolutely!" He leaned forward and kissed the smaller man softly, but quickly.
Alex fell limp in his arms, pulling away and breathing, "Wow."
"Yeah." John grinned, biting his lip. "I'm really excited."
"Me too..."
"What comes next?" The tall boy asked sheepishly. "I mean... How does this all work?"
Alexander shrugged and ran a hand through his hair, which was in a ponytail as usual. He wasn't anymore sure than Laurens was.
-
"Bonjour, mes amis!" Lafayette called loudly as he burst into the apartment around midnight, clearly intoxicated. "What are we up to?" His french accent rang through the hall.
Alex jumped in his spot on the couch with John. They were cuddled up watching a movie. John just rolled his eyes and groaned.
"Fucking hell, Laf." John huffed.
"DID I INTERRUPT SOMETHING?" Lafayette slurred. He lazily strut over and plopped down next to them.
"I thought you were gonna be out all night?" Alex pleaded.
"Noooo." Lafayette giggled, booping him on the nose. "I said I'd be out until late. Herc is the one out all night. He prolly hooked up with Maria again."
John huffed and crossed his arms. "Laf, Maria is with Angelica. They've been together for five years now."
"Peggy, then."
"Peggy is seventeen, you weirdo! That's not even the point. You're in our way, okay?" John grumbled. He was enjoying spending time alone with Alex. It was just like his annoying friend to come interrupt them.
Lafayette looked back and forth between them, his eyes widening. John could practically see the cogs turning in his brain. The frenchman looked at Alex. "WAY TO GO, TIGER!"
Alexander blushed profusely and spoke softly, probably for the first time in his life. "Shut up."
"I'll leave you to it." Lafayette winked, going back to the door.
"Where are you going?" John asked. Despite his annoyance he needed to make sure his friend would be safe.
Lafayette shrugged. "I'll see if Eliza's around."
After the door shut John turned back to Alex and giggled when the small man's face was tinged pink with embarrassment.
"It's okay." He kissed the top of his head. "You're cute."
Alex turned and buried his face in a couch pillow. He was too embarrassed by this whole situation. Never in his life had a boy called him cute in this way.
John just smirked, shaking his head. "let's keep watching the movie."
AN: first chapter is all fluff. Mostly all of this will be all fluff.
