How To...Make Cronuts

Hey! So this weekend, I was re watching episodes of Glee and was inspired to make this Cronuts chapter after watching Blaine Anderson (Darren Criss) explain how amazing they are.

⚠️WARNING: This tutorial may take up to 4 hrs to a day to make, but it's really worth the hard work. I've also heard that these things are very addicting, so...Good Luck!⚠️

You'll Need:

Dough:
3/4 cups of milk
1 tbs active dry yeast
1/3 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (divided)
1 tsp salt
1 cup butter, at room temperature

Maple Glaze:
1/2 cup powdered sugar
3 tbsp pure maple syrup
1-2 tbsp milk, cream, or water

Cinnamon Sugar:
1 cup sugar
1 tbsp ground cinnamon

Directions:

Dough:
In a large bowl, stir together the milk and yeast. Stir in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla; mix well. Add a cup of flour and the salt, then gradually add another 2 1/4 cups of flour, stirring and then kneading for a few (or several) minutes, until it's smooth and elastic, and still a little tacky.
• Wrap it up and put it in the fridge for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, whip butter w/the rest of the flour until it's fluffy like frosting.
• Roll out the dough (13X8 in. and 1/4 in. thick) and spread the fluffy butter on top.
• Fold it in 3rds (letter style) and stick it in the fridge for another 30 minutes. (Repeat this 3 more times.)
• Cover and refrigerate for at least an hour (or overnight).
• Roll out your dough (thickness: 1-2 inches) and cut out your shapes.
• Fry them until they're deep golden and place them on paper towels to remove the excess oil.

Maple Glaze:
• Mix powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk and drizzle it onto your Cronuts.

OR

Cinnamon Sugar:
• Pour sugar and cinnamon into a large ziploc bag (Don't forget to close it leaving some air in the bag) and shake it mixture to combine ingredients.
• Add the Cronuts and shake.
