I: Rekindling
{Present Day}
"Alright, you all have your sections for tonight. Our new members, shit moves fast, so don't be afraid to ask questions. That's all I have so I will see you all tonight." Cam says, dismissing everyone from the staff meetings they have frequently to make sure everyone's on the same page.
"Where's Kap?" Luke asks.
"CJ had a football game."
"Word? Why we not there?" Odell asks.
"Because we have business to handle here at the club." Cam says sternly.
After everybody was all in on investing in a club, they went after it. It's wasn't long before word got out about "Truth", and business began to boom, and over the past 8 years, they've been able to build an empire. They've opened up clubs in Houston, LA and are currently working on getting a location in Miami.
Everyone has their role. Cam and Colin always seem to be on the same page with everything. They are the ones that make sure shit get done. They're in charge of everyone on staff. Luke handles the finances along with a couple other financial advisors. He travels to all locations weekly to check the numbers and make sure everything adds up. Odell being 26 knew how to connect with the younger crowd. He was in charge of promoting and making sure everyone knew about Truth. And every night, the 4 of them are at the club, monitoring and making sure everyone is having a good time.
"I'll be in the office of y'all need me." Cam heads upstairs with Odell trailing him.
"Yo, I need you to put some honeys on the list tonight for me."
"When don't you need honeys put on the list..."
"Look y'all count on me to bring in people right?"
"Sure Odell."
"Soooo, you got me?"
"Don't I always."
"Already!"
Cam's phone starts ringing and it's Colin. "That all you need, man?"
"Yessir."
"There's a truck comin soon, watch over them, make sure everything makes it downstairs in the wareroom."
"You got it."
"What's up Kap?" Cam says answering the phone as he walks into the office.
"How'd the meeting go?"
"Good...how's the game?"
"It hasn't started yet. I'm sittin in the car..."
"You good?"
"Yeah, I'm just hoping lil man willin to talk to me this time, ya know."
"It's gonna take some time, but you're trying."
"I just want him to know that what I'm doing and why I'm always busy is to keep a roof over their heads and to keep them safe."
"I'm sure Aaliyah's telling him that."
"I hope so. Kai Rollin through tonight?"
"Yeah, she is." Cam says smiling through the phone. Kai is a special woman Cam met about a year or so after he, Odell and Luke moved to New York. They clicked instantly. On their 2 year anniversary, Cam popped the question, and they were married several months later. "But good luck with Jr today."
"Preciate it. I'll see you later on tonight at the club."
"Alright, bet." The two hang up and Colin hops out the car and walks towards the entrance. After paying to get in, he finds Aaliyah in the stands with Akasha.
"Well, look who it is!" Akasha says in a sarcastic tone.
"How you doin Kash?"
"I'm good...you? Business still poppin?"
"As always. Hey Liyah." He says giving her a hug.
"I'm glad you came." They both understood the situation Colin was in, but he knew he needed to have a more prominent role in his son's life, as well as try to rekindle what he and Aaliyah once had.
While trotting on the field for the first offensive possession, Jr noticed his dad in the stands and cracked a smile. He actually came. Watching his son play quarterback like he did made Colin smile.
After winning 20-6, and shaking hands, he heads over to where Akasha, Aaliyah and Colin are standing.
"Hey baby!! You did so good."
"Thanks mom." He says with a smile.
"Good game." Kash says giving him a high five. He then looks up at Colin.
"You came."
"I told you I would. Come here." Jr walks into Colin's arms and Colin hugs him tightly. "You did really good."
"I threw three touchdowns."
"I saw man. Look like me out there."
"Are you gonna go eat with us?" He asks. Colin hesitates and Aaliyah gives him a look. That please don't disappoint him look. Colin nods.
"Yeah, I'll come."
"Yes!! I'm gonna ride with dad. Is that okay?"
"Yeah...how about it just be you two.."
"Sounds good to me...what do you say lil man?"
"Yeah."
"I'll bring him back to you when we're done."
"I'll be at Kash's spot. You guys have fun. Give me a kiss papa." CJ walks into her arms. "Have a good time."
"Okay."
"Oh, Kash...give ya boy a call.."
"I know you ain't talkin bout Odell."
"I am."
"Odell made his choice, remember?"
"He's a changed man."
"Oh is he? Still puttin girls on the list every Friday and Saturday?" Colin hesitates to answer. "I didn't think so."
"Y'all comin through tonight?"
"Nope." Akasha says quickly.
"We might." Akasha shoots her a glare. "I'll let you know."
"Sounds good. Let's go lil man." After going out to eat with his son, Colin heads back to club to get ready for the night.
