Chapter 40- senior camp! Part 3

"About last night." I say running up to Casey.

"It's fine. I get where you were coming from." He smiles intertwining our fingers.

"Holly just got me thinking."

"You know how much I love you, right?" Casey questions.

I look at him and then back to the path we are following with our class and Ms Elliott.

"Well yeah, obviously. Why?"

"You know I want to be with you for the rest of my life. Kids, marriage, pets."

"Of course but I don't trust myself with a dog just yet so maybe wait a bit." I joke and he chuckles.

"You want that too though right?"

"Definitely. That's all I've ever wanted."

"Good."

"What's brought all this up?"

"Like you said, Holly got me thinking."

I smile at him.

"Yessss!" Casey, Jamie and Seth yell as we see our activity for the day.

"I was going to explain this but how about you guys do it. You seem to have more enthusiasm. If only you were like that in school." Ms Elliott says making us all chuckle.

"Okay okay okay. This here is bubble soccer. You get in the bubble and play soccer." Casey explains jumping up and down with excitement.

"Split up into teams of 5 or 6." Ms Elliott says and the boys join me Holly and Katie with us all laughing at the boys silliness.

"Okay team 1 and 2 first." Ms Elliott says.

They all quickly get into their own bubbles and the soccer ball is thrown in the middle of them and the game starts with everyone bashing into each other making everyone laugh.

By the end of their game, it was 3-2.

It was our turn next playing the winners of the previous game.

"Go!" Ms Elliott yells blowing a whistle.

We begin running and pushing our bubbles making a few of us fall and crash into each other which makes my ribs hurt.

I get hold of the soccer ball and swing my leg back trying to kick it but it results in me falling on my back and the bubble hitting the ball instead.

I hear everyone chuckle around me and I let out a laugh myself and then awkwardly stand back up.

I spot Casey standing in his bubble a bit in front of me and an idea comes to mind so I begin to smirk and carefully run towards Case.

He hears me coming up and turns around just as I'm about to jump on him making us both break into a fit of laughter as we roll around on the ground.

"And time!" Ms Elliot shouts out gathering our attention.

We eventually stand up thanks to help from Holly and Seth.

We climb out and hand the suits to the other team as we lost by one score.

That was fun.

"So guys, prom is next week and then graduation." Ms Elliott speaks up as we are all gathered around a bomb fire.

I'm between Caseys legs and have my arms wrapped around his as his are around my shoulders linking my fingers.

It's a cold night so I'm wearing long pj pants tucked into fluffy socks and of course, Caseys oversized jumper featuring my signature messy bun.

"Yep." Everyone murmurs.

"And Ms Emily is valedictorian. Congratulations by the way." She smiles and I smile in return.

"Do you have anything planned for graduation? Anything special that won't make it a boring graduation ceremony?" She questions and everyone shakes their heads.

"Come on guys! Make if fun! Sing a song. Do a dance. Do something."

"What song? Who is gonna teach us the dance? It's not that easy Ms." Seth pipes in.

"Who said it was gonna be easy? But it sure as hell will be fun." She smirks.

"I heard Emily sing last night. She's good. Casey is very talented with the guitar and the rest of you in the back was pretty good. Now it's just a song. So how about this, Thursday and Friday are free days right? To plan the graduation and last minute preps for prom on Friday night?" She asks and we all nod.

"How about we hold auditions? Someone or a group whatever, perform a song and we choose maybe 2 or 3 songs to perform."

Everyone looks around at each other and then I look back at Ms Elliott.

"You're pretty cool Ms Elliott!" I smile.

She's scoffs and flips her hair back.

"So I've been told." She smiles and we all laugh.

"So what kind of songs?" Katie questions.

"Graduation songs. Happy songs. Sad songs. Whatever song. Just something not boring!"

"Would anyone like to do an example?" She questions.

"How about Case and Em?" Holly smirks as everyone turns their attention to us.

I jump out of Caseys arms and shake my head.

"I only know a few songs on guitar." Casey explains.

"And I can't sing!" I argue.

"Come on guys. You are way better than anybody else here. No offence everyone but it's true!" Jamie says resting his chin in his hands.

"You've heard us sing like two or three times." I say tilting my head.

"And you were good everytime." Seth interjects.

"Didn't you guys win the talent show in the 6th grade?" Holly brings up and I sigh.

Looks like we aren't getting out of this one.

"What song?" I ask Casey as everyone cheers.

Ms Elliott hands the guitar to Casey as he whispers a song choice to me that I remember the lyrics fairly well too.

"Sounds good." I nod and turn around to face everyone as we sit down on the ground.

"Everyone know Hold Onto The Memories?" I question and everyone smiles and look at each other.

I start singing the start of the song as everyone sway side to side.

This song is the perfect graduation song and I love it.

Casey continues strumming the guitar beautifully as the chorus comes closer and closer.

Everything about this song is just perfect and it sums up high school and my high school experience.

"If I hold onto the memories
And use them to guide me
Will you be right here beside me Everything I know is behind me I'm starting a new life
I just don't want to say
Goodbye." I sing with most people singing along.

The song ends and I see tears in some people's eyes as I lean my head on Caseys shoulder and discreetly wipe my cheeks on his shirt where a tear slipped down sneakily.

"Can we never forget this?" I whisper to everyone loud enough for them to hear me.

"Never." Holly replies instantly who grabs my hand and smiles with everyone else who murmurs either definitely or absolutely not.

"Guys, I have an idea." Ms Elliot smiles.

"Friday. During the auditions, we should make it an assignment to maybe sing a song to somebody that you wish you could tell them before you leave school."

"What is this? Glee?" Casey jokes and I hit him on the arm.

"What if you can't sing?" Some girl called Lacey asks and loads of people murmur yeah.

"You don't have to sing to get your message across." I smile.

I look over at Ms Elliott and smile and nod my head.

"I'm in." I say standing up as I walk towards Ms Elliott.

I look around at everyone who isn't agreeing with this fantastic idea and I let out a big and long sigh.

"Come on guys. There isn't a guy you like and you want him to know how you feel before we graduate and leave each other's lives forever." I say to a group of girls and then I walk over to some footballers.

"Or how about that your life doesn't revolve around football and you have other talents, like dancing." I smirk as I look at Jamie who I've recently learned is a pretty good dancer.

"Maybe you just want people to know you aren't happy." I say looking at Katie who used to suffer with Ambers torture like most of us.

It goes silent until Casey stands up and joins me by linking our fingers.

Next was Holly who was followed by Seth and Jamie.

Katie was kind of hesitant but eventually she joined us after everyone finally agreed.

And I know exactly what song to sing for Casey!

Don't judge!
I don't have anything planned until graduation.
