Not Just Another Cliché

Seths POV
"He what?" Holly gasps and I cover her mouth to make her hush up.

"You can't tell Emily. Casey begged me not to tell anybody even you Holly. I just thought you should know."

We sit down at the senior bench in the corner of the hall and Holly sits beside me in shock.

"Casey likes Emily?"

"This is great." She suddenly exclaims.

She stands up and smiles widely.

"What are you talking about Holls?"

"Emily likes Casey too. She said her date with Jamie was good but she couldn't stop thinking about Casey....." She trailed off and I know what she's thinking and I jump up.

"No Holly. I know what you are thinking and we can't get involved. If we force them together things will just get awkward, we just need to let nature take its course."

"She's my best friend Seth and you didn't see how heart broken she was when Casey stuck up for Amber or whenever she finally excepted her and Casey will never happen. We need to tell her, at least give her hope."

"We can't interfere Holls. I'm sorry and I wish I could tell Seth about Emily but we can't. We can't get involved because we could completely mess up their friendship if we do. It's for the best."

I envelop her in a hug and rest my chin on the top of her head.

"I guess you're right. I love you."

"Love you too. Now let's get to class."

We get into algebra and the awkward tension between Emily, Jamie and Casey quickly hits us.

"Wow who died?" Holly yells and I look at Casey and the way he's looking at Emily and the way she is wearing hurt in her eyes but trying hard not to show it.

A substitute teacher walks in and tells us to do whatever we want and then she leaves.

Everyone begins to move around and I see Casey standing up and moving towards Amber and seats on her desk as she plays with her hair flirtatiously.

She's pathetic.

I notice Emily standing up and running out of the room.

Hollys POV
I see Emily running towards the bathroom so I jumped out of me seat and followed her.

I barge in the door and see her leaning on the sink and she smiles are me through the mirror and wipes under her eyes.

"Hey what are you doing here?" She asks and I smile sympathetically.

"I seen."

"Seen what?"

"Casey and Amber."

"Oh yeah, that. I'm over it. Let's get back to class." Emily says about to leave when I call her name.

"Emily, I think there's something you should know." I say.

"What is it?"

"Um, it's it-" I begin but stop.

"What's up Holls?"

"You know what, it doesn't matter. Let's get back to class. I wanna get my Spanish homework done in this free period." I say and we both walk back to Algebra.

I sit back down beside Seth and sigh.

"What happened?" He questions.

"We just talked about Casey for a bit."

"You didn't tell her did you?" He asks and I shake my head.

"No. But it breaks my heart seeing her give up Seth. This is just so hard." I groan as I throw my head into my heads and Seth rubs my back soothingly.

"I know Holls, but they're our best friends. We could complicate things for them. Think how awkward it would be if we pushed them together."

"I guess you're right. I just can't stand them not knowing that they both have feelings for each other but they aren't acting on them." I grit my teeth.

"But if they really had feelings for each other. They'll admit it to each other without our help. I promise."

"I hope you're right." I mutter.

Short I know but I just wanted you all to understand where Holly and Seth are in this situation.
