Not Just Another Cliché

•• Emily's outfit to the carnival••

"You are a 4 year old Emily." Casey moans from the drivers seat.

"The carnival is amazing. Would you see a 4 year old on the twister?" I ask referring to the number 1 roller coaster in Texas.

"I'm pretty sure that was how old you were when you went on it first."

"I was 7, actually." I correct and he chuckles.

"Please lighten up Case. The carnival is amazing and it's where you can meet loads of hot girls." I say bumping my shoulder with his even though I don't want him to abandon me for some blonde bimbo with a sharp giggling laugh that goes through you. But whatever I can say to help him perk up over the thought of the carnival, I'll do it.

"I'm not gonna leave you for a girl Em. I like the carnival." He says.

"Then what's your problem?"

"Nothing," he laughs, "you're just too excited that you expect me to be too. I'm absolutely perfect." He smiles looking at me quickly before returning back to the road.

Yes you are.

"We're here! We're here!" I cheer.

Casey quickly finds a parking spot beside our parents and before I practically rip my seat belt off, Casey takes a hold of my hand and looks at me sending shivers through my body.

"Em, Liv and Megan are actually 7 years old and look at them." He says and we both turn our heads to the front of the car where our little sisters are talking and cheering at a normal pace for kids.

"Your point?"

"My point is, you're more excited than them and they are the reason we are here." He states.

I sigh, "okay okay, I'll tone down on the enthusiasm."

"That's all I ask." He says and before I'm about to exit the car, he pulls me back by my hand gently.

I look at him curiously and he smiles and drops his head.

"What?" I laugh as I hit his shoulder.

He looks up still smiling and tilts his head.

"You look nice Emily." He says and I feel all heat rush to my cheeks so I look away.

"Thank you." I say looking away and then I get out of the car meeting my family at the entrance of the carnival.

I suppose I did look okay. I'm wearing white ripped skinny jeans and a pink crop top that flatters my figure. I have a black crop top hoodie over it and I match it with my white low converse.

My wavy hair is thrown into a ponytail and I have light blusher and mascara.

"Em will you go on the caterpillars with me and Meggy?" Liv asks me.

I bend down so I'm eye level with Liv and I smile at her.

"I think Casey would be much better at that then me? Don't you agree?" I ask and instantly her eyes light up and she nods.

She runs in Caseys direction with Megan hot on her tail and I stand up and watch the scene in front of me.

I see Casey looking down at Liv and Meg and quickly his smile fades and he looks at me and shakes his head while Megan and Liv drag him in the direction of the caterpillar rides.

I chuckle and join our parents.

"Awh that's lovely Andy." My Mam sighs at Caseys dad.

"What is?" I question.

"For Zoe and Andys 10th anniversary, Andy is bringing Zoey back to where they first met and then they are staying in the same place they had their first date in." My Mam swoons.

"How long were you hinting that one Zoe." I tease and my Mam hits me playfully but everyone else laughs.

"But while their gone, they want you to babysit Megan." My dad says.

"What's wrong with Casey?" I ask.

"Well you'll have to be babysitting him too." Andy says.

I laugh and nod, "I'd love to babysit Meg."

I see Casey walking back with Liv and Meg and he looks like he's gonna barf.

Everyone starts to laugh.

"Alright there Case?" I ask.

"It just kept going." He says.

"If that's what you're like on the crappy caterpillar what will you be like when Emily forces you on the Twister." My dad says.

"Every year she makes me ride it so I'm immune to it but that death trap is new and I'll never be going on it again."

"Speaking of. See you guys later." I say dragging Casey along to my favourite ride.

"Emilyyyyy." He whines.

"Grow a pair Case." I say.

We make it to the line and since it's still early, it's not that long so I say the wait will be around 5 minutes.

"I hear your parents are going away next weekend for their anniversary."

"Yup and I'm stuck on Meg duty."

"And I'm stuck on Casey and Meg duty." I tease.

"Shut it you. You'll be coming over to my house anyway so it doesn't count as babysitting." He chuckles.

"Why you so sure I'll be coming over?" I smirk.

He sighs and throws his arm over my shoulder and I grab his hand intertwining our fingers and fighting the shivers going through my body.

"One, your my best friend and we are in each other's house everyday and two, I believe we have another 6 seasons of Greys Anatomy to get through so if you're thinking about ending this friendship, could you wait a month maybe?" He says and I laugh.

"Friends forever." I say looking up at his tall figure.

He smiles, "forever."

He kisses my forehead and then we make our way onto my favourite ride.

"How was the Twister?" Andy asks us as we reach them at the bumper cars.

"Twisty." Casey replies and we all laugh.

We all continue talking when a familiar voice makes us turn all our attention to them.

"Well thanks for the invite to the family outing." Evan says.

"We would have invited you sweetie but we thought you had somethings to do." Zoey explains.

"Or people." Casey corrects and I elbow him gently as we all ignore the elephant in the room or the new elephant attached to Evans arm.

Well she isn't as big as an elephant because she practically a stick with her thin figure and beautiful eyes and smile.

She looks genuinely nice and she actually seems to have an interest in Evan and not just interested in that interest, if you know what I mean.

"Hi nice to meet you all, I'm Maya." She smiles holding her hand out to Zoey and Andy.

"You must be the new girlfriend." Zoey smiles.

Zoey was always so nice to Evans girlfriends even if she didn't appreciate him using different girls every day just to love 'em and leave 'em.

"Not girlfriend. We are in physics class together in uni." She explains and I like her already. The fact that she isn't all over Evan is appealing and that she doesn't label herself as his girlfriend. She's not falling for his player ways just yet. Go Maya!

"Nice to meet you honey." Zoey says.

"Great meeting you." Andy says.

"These are my parents friends Rachel and Connor." Evan introduces my family to Maya and they quickly exchange hand shakes and smiles.

"This is my kid brother Casey and his best friend Emily and then this is Em's sister Liv." He says and I smile at Maya and shake her hand as does Casey.

"And this little munchkin," he says as he picks Megan up and throws her over his shoulder making her squeal, "this is Megan but we all call her Meg or Meggy don't we Megs."

Evan may be a jerk and such a pig to girls but when it comes to Liv and Meg, he could be the sweetest guy in the world.

"You two are absolutely adorable. Let me guess, best friends?" Maya guesses about Liv and Meg making them nod enthusiastically.

She bends down and looks at me and Caseys sisters.

"Could I ask you two a really really big favour?" She questions and they nod.

"I want to ride the caterpillar so so much but Mr Boring over here won't come on with me. So will you two ride it with me?"

Their eyes light up and they both grab a hand each and run in the direction of the caterpillar.

"Good Luck." Casey murmurs and I try to fight back a laugh.

And I'm 4?

"She seems nice." My Mom says to Evan referring to Maya.

"Yeah Ev. How did you bag her?" Casey asks and I, again, elbow him in the ribs making him jump and yelp.

"What happened to Becky?" I question.

"She was just a fu-" Evan begins to speak but he quickly changes his direction, "fun person to be with."

My dad pats him on the shoulder,"good save dude, don't think anyone noticed." He teases and we all laugh.

"Okay well if you are all done bullying me, I have a girl to impress. I'll send the girls back over to you. Bye." He says running towards Maya and a chorus of byes follow him.

"Casey wanna try some games?" I ask.

"Sure." He says but before we head off to the famous carnival games, our parents call us back.

"Okay guys so it's 4pm now so we will be leaving here around 6. Meet here at 5:50." My mom and Zoey explain.

"Cool." I say kissing my mom on the cheek.

We walk up to a clown squirter booth and Casey pays the man.

He shoots all of the clowns in the mouth making the balloons blow up.

A bell rings signalling winner.

"What do you want as your prize?" The man asks Casey.

Casey looks at me and I raise my eyebrows in confusion.

"Answer the man." He says.

I point to myself and smile,"me?"

He nods.

"I want the big dolphin!"
