So
"So Callie" Courtney began not sure what to say as she turned on the kitchen tap and began to wash a plate. "I hear you created an app?"
"Uh, yeah." Callie replied slowly. "It wasn't made though."
"Oh yeah, why not?"
Brandon leant against the wall and looked at the two girls he had in his kitchen.
"It was an investment I wasn't willing to allow." She cringed slightly at how formal and mature she was. She didn't even know if it was the fact she was talking to a twenty two- twenty three year old and she felt almost threatened by her or that the words just pulled from her mouth.
Courtney nodded slightly realising how smart she really was. Like, she created a goddam app. Maybe Courtney was the one who felt threatened.
Brandon pushed himself off the wall and strolled back over to the kitchen bench where Callie sat.
He looked at her for a moment then reached into the paper back and pulled out the contents inside.
He slid a noodle box to Callie followed by a pair of chopsticks.
She had never even used chopsticks before. She was gonna look like an idiot.
Brandon grabbed a box then sat down across from Callie.
Courtney sat down next to Brandon and opened her noodle box.
Courtney and Brandon both are their noodles with chopsticks in silence, whilst Callie just poked at them and tried to position her hand correctly.
"So" Courtney began wanting to make conversation. "How are things with the school? And that kid, nick- was that his name?"
Brandon nodded as he chewed.
"Yeah, it was kinda scary for everyone." Callie forced a smile.
Courtney nodded almost empathetically.
"Was everyone ok or?..."
Brandon swallowed hard as the vision of the dead girl came back into his mind.
"Uh" Callie looked down at her noodles and stabbed at what looked like chicken. "They found four bodies in the end."
Courtney's eyes widened with horror.
She looked over to Brandon in interest.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't know." He replied simply.
Callie rearrange her fingers on the chopsticks the finally came up with a grip that at least looked promising.
She gently placed the sticks on a piece of chicken and began to lift it from the box.
The sticks slipped and the chicken fell back into the box.
Brandon chuckled quietly finding her inability to use chopsticks amusing.
Courtney didn't laugh though she just looked at her like she was some lost puppy.
"Here let me get you a fork." She said as she placed her hands on the counter as if she was getting up.
"No, it's ok." Callie replied.
She gripped both the sticks in her hand as if she was holding a fork then she spooned the chicken into her mouth.
Brandon looked at her and grinned slightly. It bring back all the reasons why he fell in love with her in the first place.
Courtney smiled at her then continued eating when she stopped suddenly.
"Would it be bad if I got out the wine?"
Callie and Brandon both looked to her not sure what to say and not sure what she was doing.
"Would that be strange?" She continued
"Not at all". Callie replied with a forced smile.
"Ok" Courtney said as she got off the seat. "I'm getting the wine."
Callie continued to eat the noodles like a child. She spooned a mouthful into her mouth and chewed on it then she caught Brandon looking at her.
"What?" She asked as she still munched on he noodles.
"You, you've got" he placed his hand on his cheek and ran his finger down his cheek. "Just there."
Callie wiped her entire cheek with her whole hand a few times then looked to him.
"Is it gone?"
Brandon nodded then Courtney returned.
"We're out of that Carbinal stuff but this" she turned the dark red bottle around and read the front. "Chateau Le, Le genetras, I don't know Spanish but it looks hella."
"It's actually French" Brandon corrected.
She pulled the cork out with no struggle then places down three crystal clear wine classes.
She filled the first two then stopped.
"Do you want some?" She asked as she looked to Callie.
Callie shrugged. "Sure."
"You're what eighteen?"
"Seventeen." Callie corrected.
"Well" Courtney said as she began to fill up the glass. "You're at least mid twenty tonight."
Callie almost laughed. Courtney's bright presence was growing on Callie.
"Yeah" Callie smiled like she was proud as she grabbed the glass. "And it's not like it's a school night."
Courtney smiled back then sipped at her red wine.
"To youth." She raised her glass slightly.
Brandon nodded then sipped at the wine.
Callie couldn't tell if he even liked it or not. He screwed up his face a little then went back for more.
Callie smiled, to youth.
