My eyes were closed but I was till wide awake. My earphones were in my ears,playing soft music that was supposed to help me sleep. I knew that I wasn't going to sleep but maybe staying relaxed would help. However, as i listened to my music I felt my hand being shaken slowly. I looked down to see shadow,my little sister looking up at me. She was holding onto her small blanket and a teddy. It wasn't unusual for her to want to cuddle but this time, something was different. I looked at her face to see that there were tear marks down her face and that her small hands were shaking. I pulled my earphones from my ears and gave her a small smile. "Nightmare?" I asked. Usually, it was at this point that she would slowly nod and I would cuddle her until she fell asleep. However, this time, it was different she shook her head. Indicating to me that her tears and shaking form were not because of a nightmare.
"The thunder and lightning are scary," she said, her voice was soft and gentle. I awed as she softly rubbed her eyes and pulled her teddy closer. She loved that teddy very dearly. Luke had given it to her as a present when he broke one of her dolls. But I knew that she secretly didn't care about that doll and the teddy penguin she got was something she held closer to her heart. "Would you like to cuddle sweetie?" I asked. She softly nodded her head and climbed onto my bed.laid
I flat on my back as she laid her head on my chest. I wrapped my arm around her protectively. "Why don't you like the thunder?" I ask her. "It's loud and scary. I kind of reminds me of those girls" she said. I chuckled slightly at this. I understood what she was talking about. A couple of days ago we were all moving our luggage around into a hotel room. When a group of fans had seen us and began to scream very loudly. We were okay with this but Shadow wasn't prepared and she jumped out her skin. "They were scary weren't they,"I said. She nodded and let out a soft yawn. "You sleepy?" i asked. She nodded her head again. "But your not tired Mikey?' She said. I smiled at this "That's ok sweetie" i said smiling at the fact she cared that I wasn't sleepy.
"Why don't I help" she suggests. "And how will you do that?" I ask. She begins to softly play with hair. "You do this with me to get me to sleep Mikey" she explains. I nod and feel a yawn escape my lips. 'It worked" she said. I nodded bringing her further into my chest and allowing my eyes to fall slowly shut. "Goodnight" I mumble. "Goodnight" shadow replies.
