|Age 14|
Swimming, it ruled your life. 5 hours each week the sport took over. Each week you would push yourself further. Each day your brain focused on the sport. You family supported you all the way coming with you to competitions and buying you all the equipment you needed. However, they knew that your coach pushed you really hard and it worried them slightly. He would always get you to do one more lap then everyone else or go to the front of the lane before everyone else so that you would have to go faster. After every session, you were exhausted and had to drag yourself to the car.
One day you were getting ready to go training when you heard Luke's voice from downstairs,he was talking with your parents, "Well I can take her if you guys want I haven't seen her train in ages so I might as well," he said. A smile spread across your face, Luke hadn't seen you train for months because he was off on tour. You had improved in skill and speed for the past couple months. You finished getting ready very quickly and raced downstairs. Luke stood there holding his keys, "Are you ready to go?" he questioned. You nodded your head and followed him out of the door.
After the warm up, your coach said you were practising racing technique. Everyone around you grounded but you smiled. you looked up to the seating area where everyone's families sit and you saw Luke sat in the stalls a huge smile on his face. You all went to the deep end of the pool and began went on the diving boards. You were the first one to stand on the diving board as an example to show everyone how to dive and what to do when the blow the whistle at the start. As you dived into the pool you did front crawl (or freestyle) to the end of the pool. This continued you would join the line of people to stand on the diving board and do a length of whatever stroke the coach said. Half way through he stopped everyone and said you were going to do relays. You went to the end of the team so you cold finish off the race.
The race was going smoothly and your team was going very fast as you were waiting you heard your coach yelling. "Hemmings get on the board quickly!" he exclaimed. You rushed onto the board and dived in doing a quick lap to the end, winning the race. As you got out of the pool your coach called you over "That was good but not fast enough I want you to run down the end of the pool and do one more lap" he said. You nodded your head and began to walk down to end. "Run Hemmings the sessions nearly over," he shouted. You picked up the pace but as you ran the water on the floor caused you to slip, making you land on your arm. You cried out in pain, "Hemmings stop being an idiot and get up," shouted your coach. You lay still you arm hurting so much as you laid there you heard Luke's voice from beside you (Damn made a song reference without even meaning to) "Y/N are you okay?" he asked. You looked over at him with tear-filled eyes shaking your head. "It's okay sweetie we can get you to the hospital and home, okay?" He asked.
After going to the hospital getting an x-ray and discovering that you had broken your arm they put a cast on it and you and luke went in the car home. "your coach is a piece of work isn't he?" asked luke. You nodded your head "Yeah" you replied. "but you've got so much better at swimming I'm really proud of you Y/N" he said. You smiled and replied, "thank you." "And hey I'm sure the boys will sign that cast for you and then you can sell it on eBay" he joked. You giggled and replied "Yeah hopefully"
