XXXXII: Operation Protect Eight Tails
I watched them from above, perched upon the high fence as Suigetsu had a poor ninja in a headlock.
When Sasuke emerged I turned away, refusing to look at him.
Suigetsu had then released the poor man, as I heightened my hearing to listen to what he was saying.
"He is training.. at Unraikyo, Storm Cloud Ravine.... He wields eight blades and has bull horns tattooed on his left cheek..."
I stood up on the fence, ignoring Jugo's stare as I shot away, knowing they were close behind me.
-
"You must be the Jinchuriki host of the Eight Tails."
"No, its Lord Eight Tails. Okay?"
What a funny looking guy. What a funny guy in general.
When I had arrived, he was rapping. And dancing. It was hilarious.
"I've come to capture you." Sasuke said.
"No. You have to say 'Please allow me to capture you, sir.'"
I almost burst out laughing. This guy is hysterical.
"Suigetsu, take right. Jugo, take left. Karin, get behind me. Miyako-"
"No." I snapped, crossing my arms as I approached Mr. Weird Guy.
"Miyako!" Jugo called out.
I removed the Akatsuki cloak as stomped on it and smeared it into the ground, not knowing why I even put it on in the first place. I was still angry at the recollection of my most recent memory, the one with Itachi, Master Jiraiya, and Orochimaru. Shiroryuu had given me some space to cope, which I hadn't done yet. At this point, I didn't care what happened to me, when two of the most important people in my life that had cared about me died.
Mr. Weird Guy watched me as I stopped in front of him. He watched me with an amused expression in his eyes, resulting in a smile from me, which he gladly returned.
I turned around, my back to Mr. Eight Tails, crossing my arms in front of me as I faced the Taka.
"What are you doing, fool!" Karin snapped.
But I kept my gaze on Sasuke's narrowed eyes.
He knew if he tried to use his genjutsu on me, I'd only use my Fear Inducement one on him. And that's not a pretty one.
"Miyako, come here." Sasuke warned.
"Miyako, my beautiful lady! Might I ask what you are doing?" Mr. Weird Guy behind me whispered in my ear.
"You're funny and funny looking, Lord Eight Tails. It'd be a pity for them to capture and kill you."
"Not to worry! No such thing will happen!"
"Oh, but it will. Unless I interfere, that is."
"Miyako! Please come back!" Jugo called out.
"Stay out of this, Jugo! You're the only person I wouldn't want to hurt!" I called out in response, causing his eyes to widen in surprise.
"How dare you turn against us!!" Karin snapped.
I met Suigetsu's amused expression, since for the first time, he wasn't saying anything. He even looked proud of my action.
And then I clasped my hands together, causing Sasuke to gasp.
"Move!" He ordered them.
And sure enough they did, just as the ground underneath them collapsed and water shot up.
I figured I'd go after Karin first.
I glanced behind us, seeing as she had landed along with Sasuke.
I performed a few hand signs quickly, creating a barrier around Lord Eight Tails as I walked out from it.
I gave Sasuke a sweet smile as he literally glared daggers at me. I could feel the rage emitting off of him, and it only made me smile bigger.
"Karin, stay back." He said.
"W-what?"
"Miyako is aiming for you first."
Her eyes widened as I gave her a wink, causing her to back up slowly. The amount of fear plastered on her face made me laugh.
I smirked as I flicked my wrist up, but Sasuke was already at my side, as he wrapped his hand around my wrist.
There was a huge bang behind me as I looked back, just in time to witness Suigetsu flying back from trying to break into my barrier around Lord Eight Tails.
Sasuke flipped me around as I focused all my chakra into my foot, aiming to kick him but he caught my ankle, staring at me with his sharingan eyes.
I smiled as he slammed me into the ground, but with a quick move of my hands the earth had enveloped me under, absorbing me into the ground.
I felt out Karin's chakra, swimming around the earth until I was directly underneath her.
I performed a few hand signs, shooting up from the ground and encasing her in the earth.
Of course Sasuke was there, shooting his fireball jutsu right at me.
I performed a few hand signs, puffing up my cheeks as I spurted a sharp stream of water from my mouth.
I performed another set of hand signs, before pointing my finger at Sasuke.
"Lightning's Kiss."
His eyes widened as a fast stream of lightning shot out from my finger, coiling around him like a serpent.
He drew out his blade last second, breaking the lightning as he charged at me.
I allowed him to collide into me as he wrapped his arm around my torso, his hand pressing against my stomach.
I took his head in both of my hands, feeling him freeze under my touch as we continued to fly through the air.
Sasuke shoved me away in an instant, as I performed a set of hand signs, water rising and catching me.
Sasuke landed on the ground, his head snapping up to me, face contorted in anger.
I landed before him, as I focused my chakra in the ground that connected Sasuke and I.
The earth rose around him, but he simply destroyed it with a slice of his blade.
And then he aimed it for me, but I side stepped, thinking I had dodged it.
But he swung his arm as his chidori focused blade swung towards my face.
I also watched Suigetsu coming at me from the only way possible I could dodge; the ground. How had I not noticed the obnoxious puddle before?
Dreading what was about to happen, I spun on my toes so his chidori wouldn't cut across my face, cutting straight through my hair instead.
I gritted my teeth in annoyance as I felt Suigetsu wrap his slimy body around my ankles, causing me to collapse on my knees.
I held my hands out to prevent myself from face planting into the earth, my emotions heightened in anger. I wasn't fighting hard enough. There was another level I could reach that I hadn't reached yet.
My hand shook as I rose it slowly to my head.
My hair. It felt short.
And sure enough, when I glanced at the ground behind me, there it was in long dead clumps.
"Don't move, princess." Suigetsu warned me as he gradually took shape around me.
I was all shook up in anger. My hair-- it was gone.
And of course, it was Sasuke to blame.
I let out a rage filled scream, performing (furiously) a set of hand signs as I tore Suigetsu to water bits around me.
Now they would feel the extent of my abilities.
I shot my eyes to Sasuke.
I was in front of him in a split second, wrapping him in my ninjutsu of every element I mastered.
Which was all of them.
I watched his sharingan eyes slowly transform into another shape.
But I didn't care.
My eyes were ablaze as I looked into his soul, prepared to weaken him to the point where he collapsed unconscious. And then I would kill Karin.
But I was taken back when I was met face to face with his worst fear.
It was multiple scenarios that were playing out; one in which I died, the other in which I had betrayed him.
In the first scenario, he was holding me in his arms as I bled to death. There was nothing but fire and screaming around us.
In the second scenario, I had weakened him and captured him, standing next to Naruto and the rest of the Leaf Shinobi, Sasuke on the opposing side.
I pulled away in utter shock from his soul, stumbling back from him as I released the ninjutsu that coated around all of us.
His biggest fear was losing me.
I watched closely as he opened his eyes, eyes that no longer held the sharingan in them, eyes glinting black and coated in pain.
I collapsed onto my knees before him, suddenly feeling weak. I felt breathless and shocked to the core, my heart pounding ferociously against my chest.
I was not expecting that. That was the last thing I'd ever expect from him.
And he wasn't even bothering to approach me right now, as he just stood there and watched me carefully. He signaled Karin, Suigetsu, and Jugo to stand down, his eyes never wavering from mine.
I didn't know how to react. If he feared losing me so, then why...
No. It makes sense. Why he won't allow me to do reckless things. I just had thought Orochimaru rubbed off on him, that he still lived on in Sasuke. But he was destroyed when Itachi was killed.
"Now do you realize how important you mean to me?" Sasuke's tone was soft and gentle, exhaustion in his eyes. That was the first time that I noticed how tired he really was.
I tore my gaze from his, bent down over the ground, digging my hands into the uneven and jagged surface. Tears of frustration escaped from my eyes as I tried to process this entire situation, my heart racing. I felt Shiroryuu twist in discomfort, but I ignored her.
This wasn't supposed to happen. Sasuke wasn't supposed to do this. He wasn't supposed to care for me. This put everything I worked for at risk.
I regretfully looked back at Lord Eight Tails, giving him an apologetic look as I raised my hand.
And then with a gradual dwindling of my fingers, the barrier around him dissolved.

YAYY!! Finally the Miyako and Sasuke relationship blossoms.
