XVII: Night
I stood silently in the corner of an underground space, as I watched Sasuke recharge his chidori, four dummies set up in front of him.
His cursed mark stretched up to his face as he lifted up his arm, focusing his attention on the chidori and the dummies.
After a moments of the loud and annoying crackling sound his power made, the targets on the dummies split in half.
I smirked as he retracted chidori, his cursed mark drawing back as well.
I clapped my hands together a few times, pushing myself off of the wall as I emerged in front of Sasuke.
He narrowed his eyes at me as I stood in front of him, an amused smirk on my face.
"Congratulations, Sasuke. You successfully did something that I myself don't even know what the hell you did." I said, making sure to coat my tone thick with sarcasm.
He only shut his eyes in irritation, brows furrowed as if the sound of my voice pained him.
Instead of arguing with me he chose to ignore me, again. What the hell is up with him? The only reason I bothered to be around him was because Father requested me to watch over him, or I just wanted to get in a ridiculous argument, which would then lead to us sparring, which I would always win.
It was like he was treating me kinder, with more respect.
I hated it.
It was two weeks ago, after I had punched him in the face, that our conversations had grown more smaller and I had begun to get up with him to watch him train by himself. Most of these days Father was busy with preparing himself for the day he's been waiting for; the day when he would successfully take Sasuke's body. (IN A NON SEXUAL WAY OK). Which is why he has me watching over him everyday to track his skills. I've been doing absolutely nothing but following Sasuke around like a lost puppy.
I also managed to keep a good distance from him, not bothering to bug him and choosing to sleep instead. I used my summoning jutsu to summon Leya, my black Lion, whom I slept on through the boring parts of Sasuke's training.
It had been like this for the past two weeks. Every time I tried to start something with him, he'd ignore it and either walk away, or start a totally different subject. Maybe its because the doomsday is coming quickly, and he regrets being rude to me and for almost killing me, which is why he's suddenly being so kind?
Nope. Doesn't sound like him at all.

I relaxed back in my bed, using my fingers to manipulate my blood as I made it dance in the air above me.
A simple candle illuminated the room as I sighed in boredom.
When the door creaked open I flicked my fingers to the right, aiming for the head of whoever was up so late at night.
There was a slice of something before I heard it thud to the ground in pieces.
I glanced at the door to see Sasuke standing there, a broken chair in his hand, his dark eyes narrowed down at me.
Hmm. Nice. He came prepared.
"Sasuke. If we were on closer terms, I'd say that you're here because you wanna have a go at it." I teased him, turning over to my side and watching him.
He only looked at me blankly, probably choosing to ignore my dirty comment, before turning around and glancing back to me.
"Let's go on a walk."
Usually I would have refused and probably broken out into an argument with him. But since he refused to argue with me much anymore, I decided to listen to his request. And besides, I had nothing else better to do at this late of night, or I should say, early morning.
I sat up in bed, as Sasuke's eyebrows furrowed when he realized I was just wearing my undergarments.
I ignored his stare as I slipped on my white haori, tying the snake rope around me to secure on the haori. I did it for Sasuke since I know he would feel uncomfortable in me walking with him in just my shorts and a black tube top to match. Although the haori didn't cover the front much, I stood up on my feet, slipping my matching clogs on.
It was just a walk, so I saw no need to bring my weapons. Not that I used my tools much anyway.
I ambled over to Sasuke as he watched me with his sharp eyes. He then turned his head and walked off as I followed him out of my room.
In minutes we were outside in the trees, a good distance away from Father's hideout.
"Just where do you think you are taking me, Sasuke?" I asked as I moved my gaze up to the full moon through the branches.
He didn't say anything in return as we kept walking.
"You know, if the circumstances were different, I'd say this is quite romantic. A late night stroll through the woods, the full moon shining on us.."
"Shut up."
"Finally you talk to me! Idiot!" I snapped, the wind around us picking up.
He stopped in his steps, turning around to face me.
"Your powers are strongest during the night of the full moon." Sasuke stated.
I narrowed my eyes at him. "Yeah. What of it?"
"I wonder. Why haven't you ever used them so?" Sasuke asked, a curious glint in his eyes.
I frowned.
He's right. I've never used them during a full moon. Well, I have, once. But that experience frightened me to the core.
It was back when I actually had mercy to humans.
-
Orochimaru
"My Lord." Kabuto said from behind me.
I stood at the entrance of my hideout, watching the full moon.
"It seems that Miyako and Sasuke are out for a little stroll." I said.
"Shall I go retrieve them?" Kabuto asked.
I smirked. I could sense the nervousness rolling off Kabuto; he was worried about Sasuke.
"No need. Miyako wouldn't ever lay a hand on him."
"Yes, my Lord. I wonder.. Is it true that Miyako's power is at its peak on the night of a full moon?"
"Yes."
"Then.. then why hasn't she-"
"Miyako is a special case." I simply stated.
"How so?"
"You see, only on the night of the full moon are the true extent of her abilities revealed."
"You mean that.."
"Yes, Kabuto." I turned my head to him, seeing fear in his eyes.
"And it also happens to be that on the night of the full moon is when the power of the beast inside of her is at its weakest."
-
Miyako
"I can't." I whispered.
Sasuke's eyes narrowed. "You scared?"
"Yes, actually. I don't want to kill you." I snapped at him, crossing my arms.
His eyebrows shot up. "You think someone by the likes of you can kill me?"
"You know I can, Sasuke. Especially if it means tonight." I told him in a more quiet tone this time.
He watched me with emotionless eyes as the moon heightened his tense expression. He was glowing beauty in the light as his expression softened.
"Then let me ask you something."
I nodded slightly in response.
"Why haven't you tried to kill Orochimaru?"
"I tried."
His eyebrow shot up. "You failed?"
"Father created a bond between us that prevents me from killing him, permanently forcing me to stay loyal to him. And besides, if I had a sure chance to kill Orochimaru, I would have done it long ago."
His eyebrows furrowed in thought as I watched his jaw tense.
"You won't have to wait too long anymore."
I blinked, confused. "What?"
He lingered his eyes on me one last time before turning on his heal, his presence disappearing from my sight. Leaving me to bask in the glory of the full moon's light.
It was these kind of nights in which I couldn't feel Shiroryuu within me. And for tonight, I was thankful for that.
