XIV: Father and Daughter
Miyako
I felt his presence before I entered the room.
I still laid there, unmoving, my wrists and ankles chained to the walls. Knowing Kabuto, he made sure that this was impossible for me to get out of.
"Why, don't you sure look comfortable, darling." Father spoke in his insolent, annoying tone.
"Its time you and I have a real conversation, Father." I said in a serious tone, not wanting to waste time.
"Hmm."
"Tell me the truth, Orochimaru. Why am I here?"
"Why wouldn't you be here?" He shot back with a question.
"I'm serious. You've kept me around for no apparent reason, and you seem to not need me for anything special unless when it comes to a tough enemy, which you automatically throw me in to kill. I assumed you need me because you need me to slay your enemies for you. But that's not the exact reason now, is it? You have Kabuto do most of your dirty work for you, and now, Sasuke. So tell me, Father. Why am I here?"
"Because you are my most treasured creation."
"Tch. All you did was stuff a whole bunch of shit into me to make me the merciless killing machine I am now." I muttered in annoyance.
"Part of that is true."
I frowned. "What?"
"You already had the lightning, wind, and water elements when I captured you as a little girl. Your fire element is what I inserted into your body, along with the earth element which you still have yet to master. My intention was to never make you a failed test subject for my reanimation jutsu. It was to retract the beast sealed inside of you."
"Please don't tell me I have one of the tailed beasts inside of me."
"No, don't worry darling. If you did, the Akatsuki would either be pursuing you right now, or they would have already taken you."
"Speaking of the Akatsuki, you used to be in that organization if I remember correctly, isn't that right?" I asked.
"Yes."
"Why did you leave?" I wondered.
"Because I got bored."
I scoffed. Yeah right.
"You probably left because you weren't able to get what you wanted."
"But now I do. You."
I let out an amused laugh.
"I'm serious, darling. You have no idea how important that beast inside of you is."
"You literally just said that I don't have one of the tailed beasts inside me."
"You don't. You have something else inside you, something far more powerful than any of the tailed beasts."
"So. You keep me here because of the monster inside me?" I asked, trying to not sound hurt by his words.
"Yes, my dear. Although, your own powers are something to not be challenged. I figured I'd take you under my wing to not only protect you from the Akatsuki, but to also train you and watch you grow in your powers."
"But now I'm stronger than you."
"Correct."
Hmm.
"But don't try killing me, dear. I know ever inch of your abilities. Why do you think I can contain you so easily?"
I ignored his comment.
"This thing inside me... what is it?" I asked wearily.
"The creator of the tailed beasts."
Interesting. I felt that I should have been more intimidated by that fact. "So I hold the mother of the tailed beasts within me?"
Father chuckled in amusement. "It sounds odd when you say it like that. But yes."
"So I'm the strongest shinobi alive."
"Now, don't get so cocky, darling. You're already as bad as it is."
I scorned.
"Your own powers alone are incredible. But add the beast inside of you, then-"
"-I am unstoppable." I said with a smile. "Say, Father. What would happen if the Akatsuki discovered me?"
Father was silent for a moment.
"You won't go running off after them, now." He spoke in a low warning tone.
"Yes, Father. I'm not that stupid."
He snickered.
"They would come after you, every single one of them. You alone are enough to defeat a single Akatsuki at a time. But against all of them, even with my help, we wouldn't be enough to defeat them. And then when they capture you, they will then realize that they cannot draw out the mother of beasts inside of you, so they will use you for their own purposes. You would even become a member of the Akatsuki."
"So then I'd definitely be a princess."
"Yes, darling. More than you are now."
I let out a slight laugh. "Say, I want to find me a fellow Akatsuki and kill him."
Father was silent for a moment.
"No, you are not allowed."
"I wasn't asking for your permission."
"Its too dangerous."
"Right. As if you care for my well being." I sneered.
"I'll chain you to the ground if I have to. You are not going and that is final."
"I'll just kill you then." I spat.
"Shall I set you down on a table and perform far more painful experiments on you then?"
"You wouldn't." I said through gritted teeth.
I felt one of his snakes crawl up my body, coiling itself around my head. Its tongue licked my neck as I shivered in disgust.
"I would."
I didn't remember much of my experience when Father had used me as a test subject. He had removed my memory from that time, but once in a while I would get flashbacks of what he had put me through.
My most recent flashback was of a blinding white light, and golden eyes trying to extract it from my body.
I couldn't hear anything over my own screaming, but the light had suddenly flooded back into my body, as it was replaced by the sight of my own blood, and a furious Orochimaru.
Let me protect you from him, child.
I jumped at the sound of her gentle voice.
It was then at that moment that I had realized I had fallen asleep.
I looked up to see her huge crystal blue eyes looking down at me, as her white chakra leaked off slowly behind the tall golden bars.
Shiroryuu?
I watched as she slowly came into the light, her pure white soul literally glowing. It was almost painful to just look at her.
You don't need Orochimaru or any of them. Allow me to protect you from him. Allow me to protect you from those who want to take you and use you for their own selfish purposes.
Her chakra pooled out in bigger clumps as her face pressed against the golden bars.
What do you mean protect me? I don't need any protecting. I can take care of myself.
The time will come when you need me. And when you call for me again, I will protect you, and I will kill Orochimaru for putting you through so much pain. I will help you slay your enemies. But I will want something in return. All of this we can achieve if you just release me, my dear Miyako. Remove this seal. Set me free. We will destroy every single soul that has done us wrong.
I admire your desire to protect me, Shiroryuu. But you're just like the rest of them; in fact, you're just as bad as them, perhaps even worse. You desire to use me for your own selfish reasons, just like Orochimaru does. Your reason probably has to do with the tailed beasts. Orochimaru's reason has to do with wanting to protect me from the Akatsuki. So I'm sorry, Shiroryuu. My loyalty lies with my Father.
I winced when I felt Shiroryuu's rage bubble onto my skin.
One day, Miyako. You will understand.
