Clint/Hawkeye x Reader #2
(Requested by: @phoenixninja978)
Scene: You get in a car accident.
You and Clint had been dating a while. About five years, so yeah, a while. He was as romantic as an average guy could get. So flowers and dinner out on anniversaries, a necklace or some type of stuffed animal on birthdays and Valentine's Day, maybe Christmas, and he would come over and spend the day with you on other holidays, as well as regular activities for dates.
But the thing was, Clint wasn't all that average, of course. He was also a kick-butt assassin and expert marksman, so he tended to go all-out on some occasions. Like today, he asked a favor of Tony to rent out your favorite water park the whole day so you two could spend it together.
He met you at the front gate and you two ran screaming to the Whirl Pool of Terror, until, of course, one of the life guards told you to walk. "You're first!" He shouted as he pushed you down the slide. You screamed at him as you went down in spirals. "You... Jerk... Face!!!"
He just laughed and went down himself. At the bottom, there's a hole where the ride kind of spits you out into the pool below. Right as you go down and resurface, Clint lands on top of you. "Get off me!" You playfully shout. He smiles. "I couldn't for the world."
You laugh and run off to one of the other rides, The Great Water Race. He ran after you and you both ran to the very top, about 95 feet tall. You both got into innertubes and he cheated by getting a head start. What he didn't know, was that there were water guns that squirt you when you go down. You chose the specific spot that doesn't get squirted, so you laughed every time he got water to the face.
That is what your day mainly consisted of: competitive races, pranks, as well as just cruel jokes. By the time they closed, it was dark, you were both soaking wet, and laughing your heads off. He had his arm wrapped around your shoulders, holding you close to him as he walked you to your car.
"Did you have fun on our 'date'?" He did air quotes with his fingers. You dead-panned. "No." His jaw dropped and he stared at you. "What? I owe Tony a huge favor now, I'm soaking wet, I certainly had fun-" You laughed and stopped him. "Clint, I'm joking. That was probably the most fun I've had in a while."
"Well, last weekend was-" You smacked him with your towel before he could say anything else. "Ouch. That hurt." He still grinned at you. "Goodnight, ya big dork." You saluted him as you got in your car. He returned the gesture. "So long, my fair maiden." You frowned. "That's Thor's line." He shrugged. "The big guy's rubbing off on me."
You laughed as you backed out and drove away. Clint sighed as he thought about his next date idea that would end with a "yes" and a ring.

You were driving down the highway that leads to your apartment when something hit your windshield. It was a newspaper ad for a bridal shop that was plastered to the window and you couldn't see through it.
Who even reads the newspaper anymore?
Right as you got it off, you looked to see you were on your side of the road, but a semi truck was heading straight towards you. The driver apparently seemed to be nodding off. You screamed as you realized you wouldn't be able to avoid the collision in time. You hit the breaks, trying to slow down, but the wheels caught and your car ended up flipping into the semi. And he was still asleep.
"YOU JERK FACE!!!" And you suddenly realized those could be your last words as everything went black.

Clint slammed the phone against the receiver. He just got the news that you had gotten in a fatal accident and were now under operation. Tears fell down his cheeks as he drove to the hospital.
Will she be okay? What if she doesn't remember me after the operation?
He thought.
He shook his head.
Then she can meet me all over again.
A new horrifying thought dawned on him.
What if she doesn't love me when she meets me again?
He refused to believe you would forget him, let alone not fall in love with him again. He loved you too much to let that happen.
He ran in and went straight to the front desk. "Where is (Y/F/N)?" He asked, panting. The receptionist smiled politely. "Sir, you will have to check in." He shook his head as he checked in. "Now, please tell me where (Y/F/N) is." The receptionist took her sweet time as she typed up your name.
"(Y/F/N) is in operation right now. But you can wait in that waiting room right there until she comes out." She pointed to a room down the way and Clint smacked the desk before he walked down to the room.
It took about an hour before Clint was notified that you were out and in room C32. What they didn't tell him, was that you had slipped into a coma.
Silent tears streamed down his face as he held your hand. "I-I'm so sorry. It's all my fault. It's a-all my f-fault." He rested his lips on your wrist, crying in the comfort of your slow pulse.
Two halves of him were at war. He didn't know what to do.
One half said, she's alive.
The other said, barely.
One half, she's beautiful when she sleeps.
The other, she's more beautiful awake.
One half, it's not your fault.
The other, it's all your fault.
One half, you need to stay for her, hold on.
The other, you need to move on for her, let go.
It went on like this for days, weeks, months. The other Avengers came, to see you, to comfort him. After a while, they were trying to find ways for him to stay away from you. After all, it was like he was spending every waking moment in your hospital room. "Come on, Clint. I want to go to the archery range again." "I need my drinking buddy, Legolas." "Do you want to go out to eat? I hear that restaurant you love has a new deal on the appetizers you always order."
Soon, they were hinting he needed to let you go. "I'm sure she'll be alright while we're away." "She looks so peaceful sleeping. We could just slip out." "Thy lady is surely being missed."
Then, they just stopped coming. They would call him, see how he's doing. Director Fury put him on leave and would contact him every now and then. It seemed as if they had given up. On Clint, on you.
The funny thing was, it was almost the same for you. You saw your grandma, your aunt, your great-grandpa, and a lot of your ancestors. It was weird. You weren't in heaven or anything, it was more like an out-of-body experience with others who had died in your family.
They all came at first to comfort you, to see the "special man" in your life. Your grandma and aunt liked him. Your great-grandpa said he looked a bit like himself in his younger days. Then, they began to try to help you decide. If you wanted to stay, or go.
"You have to make the choice yourself, dear." Your grandma spoke. "You can go with us, or you can stay with him and your other family." Your aunt pointed out. "I'd flip a coin." Your great-grandpa offered.
Then, they disappeared. They weren't there. You knew they went back to where they came from. That was because it was time. You had to make your choice. When it came down too it, you did.
*****
"We're glad you're back with us, dear." She patted your hand.
You looked up to the nurse. "Wha?" She shushed you. "Save your energy, dear. A lot of people will want to come see you." And boy, was she right. First, your parents, then your siblings, next the Avengers. Lastly, was Clint.
For the first time in your life, you saw tears escape his eyes. Of course, they were of joy. He ran up to you and caught you in a hug that said everything he needed it to. "I love you, very, very much, (Y/N). I really need you to understand that." You smiled back at him, and you were sobbing too.
"I love you too." He was still holding on to you, and you thought it would be a while before he would ever let go. "Clint?" He nodded. "Yeah?" You giggled at the thought. "I just realized my last words would've been, 'You jerk face'. Like, my literal last words." He chuckled. "You are such a dork."
You laughed. "I'm not the one who's dating me." He let go and sat back, biting his lip. "Speaking of that..." Dread washed over you. "You're not, breaking up with me, are you?" He shook his head quickly. "No no no no no! I would never- well, anyway. I was wondering if once you were checked out of here, we could go to that restaurant you love." You sighed in relief and agreed, and two weeks later, the night ended with a "YES!!!" and a ring.

A/N: Hello, fantabulous fans! I have to say, ASHKFLMG! I believe I have just made myself fangirl with my own chapter. (Yes, I know how self-centered and arrogant that sounds, sorry.) I want to thank @phoenixninja978 for the practically and pretty much awesome request. Is it bad to say I kind of enjoyed it a bit? Maybe a little?
Anyway, thanks a gazillion! (A million isn't enough.)
