Steve/Cap x Reader #2

Scene: He takes you on a date to a theme park.

Steve had been a bit weird around you at S.H.I.E.L.D. recently. He wouldn't make eye contact, and every time he would talk to you, it would be short, simple things. "Hello." "Fury needs you." "Have a good day." It was driving you insane.

Then, there was Natasha. She would give you weird looks in the hallway, elbow you in the ribs, poke you on the shoulder and then tilt her head to the direction of Steve. When you gave her a confused look, she'd sigh and start a heated, whispered argument with Steve.

That was until the next Thursday, when Steve stopped you in the hallway. "Uh, (Y/N)? I was... umm... I was kinda wondering..." He scratched the back of his neck: the universal boy code for uncertainty, awkwardness, and embarrassment. You knew something good was about to go down.

"Yes, Steve?" You batted your eyelashes, making him blush. You loved to make Steve's cheeks turn pink, it was adorable. He sighed before he smiled nervously. "Would you like to go on a date?" He asked quickly. "With me?" He added. You grinned at him, making his cheeks turn an even deeper shade of pink. "Sure." You replied, and it almost came out as a laugh.

You've had a crush on the super soldier from the first moment you saw his bold frame walk through the door. With his rippling muscles, to his deep blue eyes and gorgeous blonde hair- you stopped yourself.

I don't only care about looks! I also love his chivalrous demeanor, kindness, sense of authority, his abs, his dimples... I need help.

He smiled widely back at you. "Great. How about tomorrow afternoon? I'll pick you up at five." He offered. You nodded. "Umm, where are we going, exactly?" You asked, hoping it was at least slightly romantic. He chuckled. "You'll see. I'll see you then." He gave you a hug and even risked a peck on the cheek. As he walked away, you could see him blushing a lot.

You laughed to yourself as you heard a small squeal. You turned to see Natasha running towards you as she enveloped you in a hug. You hadn't seen this girly side of her until now. It shocked you. She pulled out of the hug to her arms' length and grinned at you. "He finally asked you out, didn't he?" She asked.

You nodded eagerly. "Yes! I've been trying to set him up with somebody for months now, and he got so annoyed. He finally stopped me when he told me he had a crush on somebody already. Then I had to work to squeeze a name out of him. When he said it was you, I almost fainted. Since then, I've been pushing him to ask you out. You can thank me by naming one of your kids after me." She winked at you.

You laughed and shook your head. "Wait, he really had a crush on me?" You asked, surprised. Natasha nodded, smiling. A near ninety-five-year-old had a crush on you? Like, a junior high, kiddy school crush? You laughed. She laughed with you. "Now, you have to tell me where you're going so I can get you ready."

You sighed. "He wouldn't tell me." She just scoffed. "That means he's probably going to take you somewhere he thinks is iffy. Like dinner and a movie, maybe bowling, or a theme park. He doesn't want you to be disappointed, so he won't tell you until you get there. We'll just have to dress you up for all three."

You and Nat, (yes, you are now at that point in your friendship) talked the rest of the day about your date with Steve. She even gave you some pointers on conversation starters, flirts, and how to get out of awkward situations.

By the end of the day, you felt like a date expert. The next day, Steve would give you huge grins as you passed, and Nat would give you a nod. Time seemed to ooze by like cold syrup until the work day finally ended. You drove Nat over to your place to help you get ready.

"You are going to look absolutely gorgeous!" She gushed as she straightened your (H/C) hair. She dressed you up in one of your 5 S.O.S. gray T-shirts, some black skinny jeans with busted knees,(I think that's the term?) some brown combat boots, and French braided your hair. "Why straighten my hair, and then braid it?" You asked her as she tugged on another piece. "It helps it look smoother." She simply replied.

She then packed a black-and-white-patterned canvas bag full of "necessities", as she called them. She put on barely any makeup, saying, "It ruins your natural face, honey." By the end of it, you beamed at yourself in the mirror. If it were up to you, you would probably come in some jeans and an old T-shirt, maybe even putting your hair into a messy bun. But then again, Nat might've shot you. Literally.

She gasped when she heard a knock at the door. "Go get him! I want every. single. detail." She said, grinning mischievously at you as she wiggled her eyebrows. You laughed. "Ew! Nat!" She laughed as she pushed you to the door.

As soon as you opened it, you came face-to-face with roses. Well, face-to-petal. You chuckled as you backed up to see Steve cringing behind them. "I thought you might like them. Is it too much? Do people give each other flowers still? Am I being-" You stopped him as you took the flowers and sniffed them. "No, Steve. I love them. And although it's rare, only real gentleman bring girls flowers anymore. So, thank you, you have restored my faith in humanity." He laughed, and you could hear the relief in it.

"Are you ready?" He asked, finally smiling. You nodded as you set the roses in a vase. He led you outside as you laughed to yourself.

I'm actually going on a date with The Captain America. I think I'm gonna barf. Wait, no! Don't! That'll ruin it!

He brought you over to his motorcycle. "I'm sorry if you don't want to ride-" You stopped him again. "It is perfectly fine, Steve. I've actually never ridden one before." He grinned. "Well, just hold on tight." You got on and held him tightly around the stomach. He laughed as your grip tightened when you took off.

You had to admit, it was amazing. It was nearing the middle of the summer, so the sun was still shining brightly in the sky. You watched as people were driving everywhere and people were walking over the city. Wind whipped loose strands of hair over your face as you drove down the highway.

Well, there goes the lipgloss Nat put on me.

You could've sworn you saw Steve look back and smile at you once or twice. Anyway, it was an absolute rush. You looked down to see the ground speed by underneath you. Eventually, you recognized where Steve was taking you.

"Adventure City?" You asked, surprised. He nodded nervously. "I didn't know you were one for roller coasters." He shrugged. "I used to go to Coney Island a lot as a kid. Bucky and I would ride the Cyclone over and over and over, until I threw up. Then, we would eat hot dogs when we rode the Ferris Wheel." You laughed at the thought of Steve puking after a ride, then you grimaced and shook your head.

"Have you been here before?" You asked him as he got off the motorcycle. "No, but Tony told me it has a lot of fun rides." If Tony was impressed with a ride, you knew it must have been good.

"Here, let me help you." He offered as he saw you struggling to get off. He grabbed you by your waist and lifted you off. He was blushing, again. "Steve." He had his elbow out, and you were guessing it was an old habit, so you took it anyway. "Yeah?" You grinned up at him. "There's one condition on this date." He looked at you nervously. "Lighten up! Tag!" You jabbed him in the stomach and ran across the parking lot to the ticket booth. He laughed as he chased after you. A couple people were giving you weird looks, after all, why are two adults chasing each other across a parking lot?

Soon enough, Steve caught you and swung you in the air. You laughed loudly as he tickled your sides. "Next!" A scratchy voice shouted. You both quickly calmed down and wiped yourselves off. "Two adults, please." Steve handed her the money. The old woman gave you weird looks as she handed back your tickets and let you thought the gates.

You were immediately met with loud screams, the whooshing of roller coasters, and the humming of vending machines and food stands. A wave of excitement washed over you when Steve asked, "What do you want to do first?" He pulled out a map he had grabbed. You pointed up to the closest roller coaster you could see. "That one."

He looked up and then to the map. "It says that one's called Colossal Coaster. The entrance is this way." Since it was pretty late in the day, not a lot of people were there, but enough to say it was a large crowd. You and Steve just happened to get the very front seats.

As the theme park workers fixed the lap bars, Steve turned to you. "I really hope this is fuuuuuu- AAAAAAHHH!!!!" You had never heard a grown man of his physique scream louder than you could. You laughed as his eyes grew bigger and bigger and bigger. That was just from shooting off. Your laugh dropped when you looked ahead too and saw you couldn't see the track. "Wait, Steve!!!" You screamed as the coaster dropped into a downward spiral and then shot straight upward again.

It was at a strict ninety-degree angle as you held on to Steve's arm fiercely. You looked up to see him smiling down at you. "You ready?" He asked as you were nearing the top. "No." You replied, shaking your head. He nodded. "Me neithER!!!" That's when you headed back down and you both screamed like maniacs. The ride ended with eight barrel rolls in a row and then came to an abrupt stop. "Is it agreed we're not riding that again?" He asked. You nodded quickly as you both got off.

Both of you had strong stomachs, so you looked for another ride. You went on a ride called "Black Beard's Doom". It was ship ride that rocked back and forth until it did a full circle. You had an idea as you sat Steve on the opposite side of the boat as you, as both sides faced each other. As the ride started, you shouted over to him. "Let's see who's side is louder!" He nodded and shouted as his side went up.

You screamed with a couple others that joined in as your side went up. Steve grinned. "Whoooh!" "Aaah!" "Whoohoo!" "Aahaah!" It went back and forth until everybody was just simultaneously screaming and laughing. When the ride finished, a lot of people were laughing with you and Steve.

One guy's eyes widened when Steve rejoined you. "Wait, you're Captain America! Dude, can have a picture?" Steve smiled politely. "I'm sorry, I'm on a date right now, and I would love to have privacy. But thank you for asking." The dude nodded graciously and the few people that noticed with him backed off.

Your eyes widened with surprise. "Why'd you do that?" You asked Steve. He shrugged. "I'm on a date with you, and I don't really want to spend the rest of our time taking pictures with everyone here. I came here to spend time with you." A deep blush rose to your cheeks as his words settled in.

You guys spent the rest of the day on rides, stopping every once in a while to get some food. You played a couple games, like a balloon pop. After you were having some trouble, Steve helped you by steadying your hand. "Here, pull back and... throw." You grinned when the dart popped the balloon and you got a stuffed bear. Later, you two decided to get some food. You looked at your phone while Steve paid for two cheeseburgers and two cokes. Nat had left a lot of messages.

Nat: How's it going?
A few minutes later...
Nat: Have you guys kissed yet?
A minute later...
Nat: Has he taken you to his place?!
Has he hit on you? Remember, details!

"Natasha! Oh my gosh, she didn't." You laughed to yourself. Steve quickly turned around at your exclamation. "What? What is it?" He asked, and you could see the concern etched into his expression. It was adorable. "Nothing. Nat's just being a dork."

You two were eating in awkward silence until you thought of one more ride you could go on. By the end of the night, it was dark and the stars were shining brightly. "Hey, Steve?" You nudged him in the shoulder, he looked to you. "Yeah?" "Can we ride the Ferris Wheel before we leave?" He nodded, smiling as you two made your way over to your final ride of the night.

The park worker latched the bar as you made your slow way upwards. You could hear faint music from below, playing from speakers all around the park. You recognized the song immediately.

Love me tender, love me sweet.
Never let me go.
You have made my life complete,
And I love you so.

His blue eyes were sparkling from the stars twinkling above. Goosebumps erupted across your skin.

Gee, it sure is wonderful how it can be 103 degrees (F) during the day and forty degrees at night.

The next words wove through the air.

Love me tender, love me true.
All my dreams fulfill.
For my darling I love you,
And I always will.

Steve noticed the goosebumps. "Are you cold?" You nodded. "Yeah, kind of." He frowned. "I would give you my jacket, but I kinda left it with my motorcycle." You giggled as he hesitantly wrapped his arm around you. "Is this alright?" He asked, and you could feel his warm, sweet breath on your skin and his smooth heartbeat. You sighed when you laid your head on his shoulder, looked at the beautiful, starry night sky, and the twinkling city lights below as your Ferris wheel car neared the top.

Love me tender, love me true.
All my dreams fulfill.
For my darling I love you,
And I always will.

"This is perfect." You whispered.

A/N: Hello, beautiful people! I really don't know what to think of this imagine. In my own opinion, it was sweet, awkward, weird, compassionate, and long. Please vote and comment, and I would love some requests, so send 'em in!

Stay awesome,

(P.S. The song is Love Me Tender, by Norah Jones. I love her voice, so I chose that version of the song over Elvis Presley.)
