Loki x Reader
Scene: Loki has dreams of you before he meets you. (Reminder: Loki's mother, Frigga, can see the future and has the same magic Loki does. Except for the ice magic.)
*Loki's P.O.V.*
I tossed and turned in my sleep. I wasn't having any dreams, which was odd, as I could control dreams. But suddenly, my mind went white.
I was in the Midgard, in New York City. It was night, and I saw that the moon and stars were shining brightly above. I looked down to see that I was wearing a fancy tuxedo, and I heard loud laughter up the street.
What is going on? Why am I here?
I realized once I saw a banner strung up to two street lights.
The Grand Duke's Ball
I realized I was meant to be in there. Then, I saw a woman. She was running into the ball, her dazzling blue dress streaming behind her. From what I had seen in a glimpse, she was like a goddess, her beauty too magnificent to behold.
I followed her in and looked to where she was. I was sure she had enchanted me, and would see it through that I met her. Then, I spotted her. She was wearing her blue dress and staring at the crowd confusedly. I tried to walk up to her, but before I knew it, she had walked away. I finally cornered her at the bar. "Excuse me, but my name is Loki," I kissed her lace gloved hand and saw a blush rise to her cheeks.
"My name is (Y/N). It is lovely to meet you." I didn't know what to do once I had caught her attention. "Would like to dance?" I asked, nervously bowing.
Why am I, an all-powerful god, nervous?
The answer appeared in my mind.
Because you like her.
I knew it must have been true as I took her hand and waltzed with her throughout the night. She spoke to me about her life and her hopes and ambitions. I fell for her. When I told her about my past and how I had attempted to take over Midgard, she was gracious and kind to me anyway. By the end of the night, I had completely fallen in love with her.
As I said goodbye, she ran out. I was devastated.
How could she leave? How will I find her? I need to tell her how I feel.
Then I woke up gasping and sweating in my bed. I was still in my cell in Asgard, and I almost began to weep. I had met the most beautiful, amazing, astounding woman and I was sure that she was the love of my life. She was everything I am not: kind, generous, forgiving, selfless, and loyal. And to think she was all but of my dreams. Then a thought came to mind.
What if she is real?
The idea spread through me and consumed me until I knew it must be true. I immediately called the guards and requested council with my mother and Thor. Frigga came quickly, but Thor took longer.
"What is the meaning of a council at this ungodly hour, Loki?" Thor grunted, rubbing his eyes. I looked to them pleadingly. "I have had a vision." My mother nodded, almost smiling, while Thor just scoffed.
"What vision, Loki?" Frigga asked. "I had a vision of the most glorious woman. I had a vision that I must meet her, and we are destined to be together-" Thor rudely interrupted me. "Do you know where she lives?" He inquired, groaning. I sighed. I knew he would not like what I was about to say.
"She lives in Midgard. In New York City." I finished right as Thor glared up at me. "This is trickery!" His voice boomed. "You are trying to return to Earth to control the planet! I will not allow-" Frigga stopped his rant. "Thor, Loki is telling the truth. I have seen it." Thor's jaw dropped. My mother turned back to me. "Loki, are you asking for allowance to seek out this girl?" She asked.
I nodded. "I believe she is my purpose in life. I have hope for a future, and I shall surely perish if she is not in it." My mother grinned and turned to Thor. "I believe Loki to have good intentions, but he must be watched over. I propose that you travel with him to seek out..." "(Y/N), her name is (Y/N)." I felt my heart flutter at the sound of her name.
"To seek out (Y/N). You will accompany him until he finds her. If she wishes to return with Loki to Asgard, then she will come and live at the palace. And if she wishes to remain on Earth," Horror dawned on me as I finished Frigga's sentence. "Then I will have to return to Asgard without her." She nodded.
Thor groaned again. "When are we leaving?" I suddenly remembered the date on the banner from the dream. It was tomorrow night. "Tomorrow morn. I must seek her out immediately."
I knew that by the end of the night, I had to make her fall in love with me too, no matter the cost.

*2nd Person P.O.V.* (Of you)
You were excited about The Grand Duke's Ball, or really, your Boss's ball. You worked as Tony Stark's PA and you had to say, it was actually pretty fun. The Avengers were always at his place, so you got to hang out with them. Plus, he always threw big parties, like this one. He invited you, but you graciously declined. He insisted anyways.
"Come on, (Y/N)! I'm actually throwing this one for you." He raised an eyebrow while you just rolled your eyes. "No, you're not. As far as I recall, you told me you were throwing this in honor of your new product line. So, that's a lie, Mr. Stark."
He smirked. "You're right, but I still want you to come." He followed you as you walked down the hallway. "And how many times do I have to ask you to call me Tony?" You turned back to him. "I believe in proper formalities, Mr. Stark. Plus, I don't like to think that we're at a first name basis." He chuckled. "Well, please just come. I'll pay for your outfit." You stopped walking as a grin spread across your face.
"Fine, I'll go." You gave in. "Great. I'll have your dress and accessories to you by five tonight. The ball starts at seven. Don't be late." That's finally when he got off your tail and walked back to his office. You sighed in relief and walked with a bit of a skip in your step as you thought about the ball.
*****
You were late. You had been driving your car to the plaza Mr. Stark had rented out, but you got stuck in traffic. Half an hour passed before you realized you weren't going anywhere. You pulled your car to the shoulder of the road and got out. It wasn't the best idea, but you knew you had to walk the rest of the way.
Oh, and it's even better in heels,
you sarcastically thought.
You were wearing diamond studded heels, complimentary of Mr. Stark. You also had on a royal blue dress with sapphire earrings and a sapphire teardrop necklace. You had to admit, they were all beautiful. You put barely any makeup on, as it stifled you. So, you went with some simple eye makeup and little to no lipstick. Then your phone buzzed.
Where r u? The party cant start til u walk in!
It was Mr. Stark. You had walked four blocks and you laughed as you ran up to the plaza.
From the distance, Loki was watching you admiringly.
This was it. I had to make some changes to the night if I wanted it to go my way, he thought.
You gasped. It was beautiful. Little lights were strung up and down the trees as women in glittering gowns and men in flattering tuxes waltzed to the elegant band that was playing.
A man was walking up to you, but then you saw Mr. Stark waving at you from the small bar. You walked over to him. "Hello, (Y/N). Thank you for coming. Would you like to da-" He faltered as he stared at something behind you. Or someone.
"I'm sorry, Anthony Stark, but would you mind if Miss (Y/L/N) gave me her first dance of the night?" You turned to see a handsome man with black hair and glittering green eyes smiling down at you, offering his hand. Mr. Stark glared at the man. "What are you doing here? I thought you were-" Right then, the legendary Thor grasped his shoulder from behind. "Be at ease, Tony Stark. I am watching my brother's actions tonight. He will be out of Midgard by tomorrow morning. Come, drink with me." He led a grunting Mr. Stark to the other side of the bar for a drink.
You turned back to the handsome stranger. "Excuse me, but my name is Loki." He bowed as he took your hand and kissed it softly. You noticed he had a bit of a British accent. You could feel yourself blush. "My name is (Y/N). It's lovely to meet you." He nodded as he offered his other hand. "Would you give me the pleasure of this dance?" He asked, a sparkle in his eye. You grinned. "Of course."
He led you to an open area and began a waltz, softly swaying to the beat of the music. His hand on your waist was oddly soothing as he pulled you closer. "May I ask you a question?" You looked up to him. "You just did." You jokingly replied. He chuckled, and it was a rhythmic sound, like a melody. "Sure." You seriously answered this time.
"What do you think of your life here?" He asked. His question caught you by surprise. "You mean, like, the meaning of life?" You tried to specify. He grinned and you swooned at his pearly white smile. "In a way, yes." He spoke. You nodded, shrugging.
Then, you paused to think. "Well," you started. "I think I came to this life so I can experience the moment. I came here to be stupid, learn from my mistakes, and aim for better. And, I know this sounds way too sappy and pathetic, but I think the reason I'm here is to love."
He nodded, and you stared at him, curiously interested. "Really? You agree?" He nodded again, smirking. "I absolutely agree. What purpose is there to life than love? Passion? Why do anything if there is nothing but emptiness behind it? I believe that everything we do, everything we live for, is from some type of passion." You beamed at him in agreement. "Spoken like a true poet."
He smiled at you again, and you blushed under his gaze. He was staring at you, almost as if he... knew you, liked you. He chuckled again. You looked up to him. "What's so funny?" You asked. He shook his head. "You were doing it again." "What?" "You adorably furrow your eyebrows when you're thinking. You've done it twice now." You notice you had been.
Wait, did he just say it was adorable? You thought.
Soon, the first song had ended and you realized that you didn't want to stop dancing with him. He bowed to you. "May I get us both a drink?" He asked. You grinned at the excuse to keep talking to him. You stood against a lamp post, waiting for him to get back. You saw him stop by the small band and whisper something to the singer. Before you knew it, he was back, and the band was starting up again.
"This is a song especially for a special woman named (Y/N) (Y/L/N)." They struck up an classical version of one of your favorite songs. The lead singer started and Loki began to dance with you again. You were talking to him about anything and everything as enchanting words wafted through the air, settling into smooth sounds on your skin.
I've been spending all my time
Just thinking about ya.
I don't know what to do.
I think I'm fallin' for you.
I've been waiting all my life,
And now I found ya.
I don't know what to do.
I think I'm fallin' for you.
I'm fallin' for you.
Shivers went down your spine as you danced away with Loki. He told you about his sad and tyrannical past. "Wait, you tried to take over Earth?" You asked, shocked. He frowned, and saw something glisten in his eye. Tears?
"I am not proud of my past, nor am I going to repeat it. I just wanted a throne that I was promised, and I was foolish to see Midgard as a worthy dominion. My brother loves this world too much to allow it." You nodded. "I see your perspective. But wait, if you're supposed to be locked up in prison, why are you here?"
He sighed nervously as he looked down to his watch. You saw that it was midnight.
Whoa, it's late. It's almost time for me to go, You thought.
He turned back to you with the most intense gaze you had ever seen. "(Y/F/N), I know it is much to ask of you, and it is very sudden, but I have fallen in love with you. I have fallen for your beauty, your grace, your charm, and your open heart. I know that I need you in my life for without you, I will have no purpose to live for.
"I had a vision of you before I met you, and I fell in love. I must return to Asgard, so a choice must be made by you and only you. So, dearest (Y/N), will you return to Asgard with me, or will you remain on Earth?" You looked to his eyes and saw desperation, adoration, and fear.
Before you knew it, you spoke. "Yes, I'll come with you, Loki."
*****
You later discovered that Loki's mother, Frigga, had foreseen that you and Loki would meet, so she helped the future by planting the vision in his dream. Loki was bit shocked at first, but Frigga told you that she only wanted Loki to be happy, and that's all she's ever wanted. And really, you were grateful.
After all, you wouldn't have met the love of your life without her.
