Okay back to the story

--------------

"What's happenin'?" I asked, worried. She was just awake. She was talking. Why did she just pass out in the middle of a sentence when she was completely fine?

"She just passed out. She'll be fine in a while." Hershel tried to reassure me, but it didn't work.

"When will she wake up?"

"Not sure. Could be a couple hours, could be a couple days."

"So you're sayin' she could be in a coma right now?!" I paced back and forth.

"Yes.but it's nothing to worry about. She should wake up by tomorrow." Hershel said and walked out of the room. I grabbed Melissa's hand.

I found myself starting to close my eyes. I rested my head on the bed and closed my eyes, still holding Melissa's hand.

---

"Daryl?" I opened my head and put my head up. I looked at the door and saw carol at the door.

"Hm?"

"I brought you some breakfast. How is she?" She asked, looking at Melissa.

"Most likely in a coma for a couple days. She woke up after the transfusion. She was talking. We were having an actual conversation. Then, in the middle of a sentence... She just... Passed out." I sighed. She nodded.

"She's gonna be alright. Come on downstairs with everyone else." She said as she walked downstairs. I nodded and stood up. I walked into the living room and sat down with everyone else.

"How's Carl doin'?" I asked.

"Just resting upstairs. Doing fine." Lori said. I nodded and looked back down at my breakfast.

"How's Melissa?"

I looked up at Lori. "Don't know. She passed out, could be I-" I was interrupted by a scream. Melissa's scream. I shot up and ran upstairs, everyone else following.

"What going on?!" I asked, grabbing Melissa's hand and getting on my knees beside the bed so I was level with her.

Melissa's POV

I woke up screaming. The pain in my side was unbearable. I saw my dad run in and grab my hand and falling to his knees so he was level with me.

"What's going on?!" He yelled over my screams.

"She just woke up. I'll give her some painkillers and she should be fine." Hershel said. "Patricia, go get me some painkillers from my bag." Patricia nodded and ran out of the room. I stopped screaming and I was just crying and squeezing my dad's hand.

"Maggie, go get a glass of water for Melissa." Maggie nodded and ran downstairs. Patricia came back into the room. Maggie ran up soon after. Hershel gave me the painkillers and the pain stopped soon after.

"We'll, she's awake and alert, the bleeding from the gunshot is under control and she seems fine." I slowly sat up. I stood up slowly with help from my dad.

"You hungry?" He asked as we walked down the Hals towards the stairs. I shook my head.

"Not really." I sighed. "But do we have any more water?" He smiled and nodded.

"Sure do." He said. We slowly walked downstairs to the others. To my surprise, Carl was downstairs and moving as if he wasn't shot. Beth got me a glass of water and I gulped it down.

"Hey, how you feeling?" Carol walked up to me.

"Better." I smiled. I sat down with everyone else.

"Where's Sophia?" I asked.

"Upstairs sleeping." I nodded. It's pretty late at night, but I'm not tired.

"We'll then where's Carl and rick?" I asked, noticing they weren't here.

"Carl's upstairs, probably asleep too, and rick went out with Shane to check the snares."

"This late?"

"Shane wanted to go check them." Lori shrugged. I nodded. I have a weird feeling about this. Shane and rick haven't exactly been close lately. I find Shane glaring at rick with hatred in his eyes. I get a weird feeling when it comes to Shane-not only because he punched me in the face (and I still have a black eye by the way), but just the way he acts. He and rick apparently used to be best friends, worked together, he was with Lori, rick and Carl a lot, but now I don't know.

My thoughts were interrupted by a gunshot. I stood up and walked to the window. I saw two figures walking towards the house, and hundreds more behind them.

"Carl and rick are walking back to the house... Where's Shane?" I asked.

"Walkers... A horde..." Maggie yelled, nobody answering my question.
Lori didn't bother looking out the window before running upstairs to Carl, who is actually outside in front of the hundreds of walkers.

"Everybody grab your things! We gotta get outta here!" Dad yelled. Everyone ran to their rooms and grabbed everything. I quickly went upstairs and grabbed my bow and my bag. I walked back down the stairs. When I reached the bottom of the stairs, I clutched my side. It still hurts. A lot.

"Dad... G-go. Get outta here. I-I'll leave with l-Lori." I panted.

"Where's Carl?!" Lori ran downstairs.

"He was walking back w-with.... With rick. The walkers were following them..." My eyes grew wide and Lori's filled with tears. We ran outside.

"Dad, watch out!" I yelled as a walker walked up behind him. He took their heads off with his bow and ran, leading the walkers away from us. Most likely going to his bike.

"Lori, we gotta go."

"No, I'm not leaving without my son and rick." She was looking around the property to try to find her husband and son.

"Okay... Um carol, you and Sophia get in a car. I saw Andrea leave in the car I think. there's enough room for you two. Go!" I yelled. I hugged Sophia. We were the same age and becoming really close friends. Me, Carl and Sophia. We're always around each other.

"Carol, you two need to run and don't stop. Go now!" I yelled as I got some walkers attention to buy them time. I don't really know who is in what car, but I saw Andrea get in the car, I never saw her leave, and t-dog ran behind her. Hopefully Sophia and carol get out of here together and alive.

Just as I turned back to face Lori, the barn went up in flames, attracting most of the walkers.

"Hershel! Come on!" I yelled as I grabbed Loris hand.

He didn't move. He said he's gonna die on this farm before he leaves. I bit my lip, knowing he wasn't gonna move. Beth ran up to us, not seeing her dad, and with Patricia.

"C'mon, we gotta go!" I yelled. Lori nodded and we ran. I heard Beth and Patricia scream. I looked back and saw Patricia being surrounded by walkers.

"BETH!" I screamed. Lori grabbed Beth as t-dog drove up to using a blue pick up truck. Beth was crying so much. Why wouldn't she be? I mean, she just witnessed Patricia being eaten right in front of her, she doesn't know where her sister is, she doesn't know where her dad is, she just had to leave the house she grew up in, and she just went through her first real encounters with walkers. I would be crying too.

We got in the truck.Lori was teary-eyed and Beth was snuggled up to Lori, trying to calm down.

"We have to go back." Lori said. I shook my head.

"No way. That place is gonna be up in flames and overrun by the time we get back.we have to go to the highway."

"No can do. The walkers are coming from that direction. Thats suicide." T-dog said.

"Rick would go there, I'm not going anywhere else."Lori said. I nodded.

"That's where daddy would go. T-dog, if you won't go back then let me out. One way or danother I'm gonna go there." I said. T-dog only sighed. He kept driving. I opened the car door and put a foot outside of the door.

"What the hell are you doing?"

"I told you that I'm gonna get to that highway."

"Fine, we're going." He said. I smiled and sat back down in the passenger seat.

"D-did my daddy get out? Did he l-leave in time?" Beth stuttered. I looked at Lori.

"I'm sure he did, Hun." Lori said.

"I'm sure Maggie did too." I said. I'm physically and mentally tougher than Beth, even though she's 18 years old and I'm only 14. Beth nodded and wiped her tears away. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. What if dad never made it out? What if carol and Sophia never made it out? What if Carl and rick never made it out? What if Hershel never made if out? What if Maggie and Glenn never made it out? What if were the only ones who made it out alive? I looked back at Lori. I could tell she's stressed. She doesn't even know if rick and Carl made it back to the farm.

"Hey," I called out to Lori. She looked at me. "They're gonna be okay. Ricks tough, and he would never let Carl get hurt. We're gonna find them." She smiled. I smiled back.

"Hey, hey, hey." T-dog called out. We all looked through the windshield and saw Hershel, rick and Carl. I smiled back at Lori and Beth. They ran out of the truck and hugged their families. I saw more cars come from behind us. I smiled. We walked out of the Car.

I heard the roaring of my dad's motorcycle. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding in. I slung my crossbow over my shoulder and ran to my dad. Maggie ran up to beth and Hershel. I looked at Carol, but no Sophia. My breathing hitched as I walked over to carol. She was crying so much. I hugged her tight.

"She was bit..." I heard her manage to choke out. I let tears fall from my eyes. "She... D-died...I- I had to." She cried. Everyone came and formed a group hug. Some crying over lost ones, and others crying tears of joy because they found their loved ones again. I was crying because we lost Sophia. I knew my dad would be okay.

"Where to now?"

"I don't know."
