An Addition

"Kar I don't think it's a good idea." Taylor said, looking at her girlfriend, who seemed pretty determined
"Oh come on it'd be so much fun." Karlie whined.
"The cats would not appreciate it." Taylor argued.
"They'd love it." Karlie refuted.
"Babe dogs are a lot of work we can't just pick one up on a whim." Taylor reasoned.
"I've thought it through, you're on a break and I'm in school so I'm not doing a while lot of modeling, it's the perfect time." Karlie explained, trying to prove this wasn't a whim.
"Also we'd obviously get one that's good with cats." She added.
"Alright w-"
"Yes!" Karlie jumped, cutting Taylor off.
"Kar, Kar I was going to say we can go look, I'm not definitely saying yes." Taylor finished her response.
"Good enough for me." Karlie pulled Taylor's arm, knowing if she got her with the dogs she was sure to say yes.
The two girls took a fairly quick drive to the local dog shelter, Karlie practically bouncing in her seat the whole ride.
"Okay Karlie I feel like I'm taking a six year old to an animal shelter I isn't have to explain the rules to you?" Taylor laughed, teasing the younger girl.
"Shut up." Karlie slapped her girlfriend's arm as they walked in.
"Hello, are you looking to adopt?" An older woman at the front area asked.
"Yes, a larger dog or puppy probably?" Karlie replied, smiling.
"Wonderful! The large dogs are right over here. Puppies to the left." The woman walked them over.
"Thank you." Taylor said, holding Karlie's hand.
"Come get someone if you decide on a dog."
The two girls walk around, looking at the animals. They were of course all very cute, however, none of them really stuck out to either girl. It was very important, especially to Taylor, that they found a dog they really clicked with.
"Karlie you know just because we don't find one today doesn't mean we can't get a dog, just that we have to wait for a whi-" Taylor began to comfort the girl.
Karlie suddenly turned right and walked much faster.
"Hey Kar where are you going?" Taylor was confused until she finally caught up with Karlie.
"Oh my god he's perfect. He's the one. There's no way he's not." Karlie said, it appeared she had clicked.
"Okay well let's at least read his sheet." Taylor reasoned, though as she looked at the mangy dog she knew it was too late. Despite all her objections she really did love the idea of having a dog, and this one felt right.
"Fine fine." Karlie pushed up from her squatting position and grabbed the small paper with information on the dog.
"Meet Atticus. Aw I love his name too. Atticus is a three year old who loves other animals, especially cats- see he loves cats. Atticus loves to play around outside but also needs lots of naps, and is known to sleep through the night. He is very loving and is great with kids. Oh he really is perfect Tay. Look at him." Karlie finished, bending down again to pet the dog.
Taylor attempted to remain stern, searching her brain for any other potential issues, but, unable to find any, she eventually gave in.
"Oh god Karlie he is adorable." Taylor had bent down to pet the dog as well.
"Isn't he? Oh he looks like he loves to cuddle." Karlie cooed.
"He does love to cuddle, great on walks too." A young guy said from behind them, "hey I'm Ollie, I volunteer here, Atticus and I have been hanging out since he got here last year." He smiled at the happy dog.
"He's been here since last year?" Taylor asked, wondering how nobody had picked him yet.
"Yeah, he's a bit on the mangy side and he wasn't house broken until a few months ago and that makes a dog almost impossible to adopt out." Ollie explained, looking at the dog with love on his face.
"Well I have a feeling your little buddy here isn't going to have to stay much longer." Taylor smiled.
"Do you want to take him out? I have a key." He offered, excited to see such a loving dog about to be adopted.
"Yes we'd love to." Karlie stood up.
Ollie grabbed a leash to put on Atticus and quickly unlocked the door to his kennel, clicking the leash on before opening it all the way.
"Here you are ladies. Take him outside if you want then just come back in when you're ready." He smiled, handing the leash to Karlie, as Taylor was still letting the dog.
"Thank you so much." Taylor laughed, rubbing the dog behind the ear.
"We don't have supplies you know that right?" Taylor reminded Karlie as the started their walk outside.
"We'll buy them here, it's easier and it supports the cause." Karlie found a quick solution.
"Alright well if we have to shop too we better get our new friend inside." Taylor smiled at the dog who was behaving incredibly well.
"Good plan, here you want to take him?" Katlie asked, knowing Taylor did in fact want to.
"Yeah thanks babe." Taylor replied, "let's run for a minute I bet he doesn't run a lot. One, two, three."
Both girls took off, slowly at first to make sure Atticus followed suit, which he did and soon they were practically sprinting to the front desk. After they caught their breath they told the woman at the front desk they had picked out a dog.
"Oh Atticus? Finally, I thought that poor boy would be stuck here forever, he's such a sweetheart." The older woman smiled fondly.
"We saw him and just knew he'd be a perfect fit." Karlie explained, looking at Atticus.
"Well let me grab that paperwork so you two can finish it up real quick." She smiled, finding a small packet of papers and handing them to Karlie.
"Thanks."
The two girls sat down, Atticus quickly laying by their feet, and filled out the paperwork.
"Okay ladies, Atticus is officially yours." She handing them a certificate of adoption.
"Yay!" Karlie smiled excitedly as both girls reached down to pet him.
After a quick detour through the small store area to pick up a leash of their own, a few toys and some other essentials, they headed home with their new addition.
"Oh I really hope the cats like him, especially Mer." Taylor said, a bit of worry filling her voice.
"Oh I'm sure they will, how could they not?" Karlie smiled at the dog who had put his head in between the girls from the backseat.
Sure enough, when they arrived home Mer seemed suspicious of the new pet, even a little upset about it and Olivia seemed concerned.
"Just give them a few minutes." Karlie laughed at her girlfriend's worry as they came in from their finally walk of the night.
"Oh I just want them to get along." Taylor said, having so much love for all three animals.
"I know babe." Karlie kissed Taylor's nose.
Taylor walked to the kitchen to grab drinks and as she pulled two flavored waters out of the fridge Karlie walked in.
"Hey you might want to come see this." She said with a huge smile on her face.
"What is it?" Taylor asked tentatively, handing Karlie a water bottle as they walked into the living room.
"Oh. I guess they like each other after all." Taylor said simply.
Sure enough, Olivia had found herself curled against Atticus' upper chest, their faces practically touching, while Mer had tucked herself right under his front legs.
"It sure looks like it." Both girls smiled, loving their little family.

Guess who's starting to volunteer at an animal shelter soon? Surprise! It's me. That's where I got this idea.
Kaylor with a dog is the cutest though right?? Well what do you think?
Ideas/opinions/thoughts/suggestions/anything else you need or want to share? I appreciate it all.
Thank you for the votes and comments I love getting feedback.
So much love,
