Hayes
I hung up the phone slowly. This was the third time in the past two weeks that he'd called off our date.
"I'm not really feeling good enough for our date. I think I'm getting sick. Maybe we can reschedule?"
I didn't want him to get any worse so I had agreed with him. We could go to the restaurant next week instead. Being the good girlfriend I was, I decided that I'd go over to Hayes' house and have a lazy night with him. I didn't really care if I got sick.
-fast forward to the Hayes' house-
As I walked up the front driveway I could see the light was on in his room. I saw someone pass by the window. Assuming it was just Hayes, I strolled through the unlocked front door. My eyes widened as I saw a pair of heels that definitely weren't Mrs. Grier's. They were too high and too brightly coloured for her taste. As I stepped farther down the hallway, I came across a unknown purse and a slightly ripped skirt thrown on the floor. My mind started to connect the dots.
Hayes being 'sick'.
The person in his window.
The heels.
The purse.
The ripped skirt.
Yet I still couldn't believe it. My Hayes.
I heard voices upstairs and no matter how much I knew I wouldn't want to see it, my feet carried me forwards. My steps were almost silent. I shivered as my bare feet met the cold tile. Voices became more audible to me.
"You're so sexy." Hayes moaned out.
He was talking to her. Probably deeply making out with her. My hands gripped the railing to steady myself. I wanted to leave; I already knew what was going on here. Don't give myself a chance to see something that will hurt unbearably. I started up the stairs again. All that could be heard was them and the silent groans of the stairs as I stepped upon them. Finally I stood across from the slightly closed door of Hayes room. I moved closer and peered through the slit of the door. I couldn't see anything. I stepped back to collect myself emotionally before opening the door.
I swung it openly slowly, and stepped into the room. Hayes was on top of some girl and they were practically eating each other's faces off. My breath caught in my throat.
"What the fuck!" I cried out loudly. Hayes whipped off of her faster than a bullet train and fell off the side of the bed. It would have been funny if it hadn't been under these circumstances. She sat on his bed looking slightly annoyed at why I was here.
"Who the hell are you?" She asked suspiciously. I scoffed at how oblivious she was.
"I'm his girlfriend!" I crossed my arms across my chest defiantly and turned back to Hayes. He looked extremely guilty and his head was sunk down.
"Hayes, how could you? You said you were sick!" She scurried out of the room quickly and I fingered her on the way out. His head rested in his hands and he just kept repeating,
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
"How did you find it so easy to lie to me?!" I looked around me furiously and grabbed the first thing I could find. A comic book. I hurled it at him angrily but he pushed it away. Next I grabbed a pillow and did the same.
"I loved you Hayes! I thought we were bigger than this!" He lifted his head up lightly and whispered,
"It was a mistake. I wasn't thinking right. Please I don't want us to be over."
"Well you should have thought of that before you went and practically fucked that bitch after cancelling our date!" He was coming closer, trying to hug me. Tears were starting to well up in my eyes as I pushed him away.
"Fuck you Hayes! How dare you think I'd just come back to you after that! I don't think you get how much this hurts!"
"I just... I knew exactly what I was doing and I hate myself for it. I really do love you. His face was red I could see he was crying.
"If you left me, I would just fade away. You're the only thing that's keeping me here." I never knew he felt like that. I stayed silent and his arms wrapped around me. But this time I didn't push him away.
"One more chance please?" Hayes asked me
"No." I said crying
"What do you mean 'no'?" He asked me
"No. No, I won't give you another chance. I'm sorry but no. I can't do that." I said crying. He unwrapped his arms from around me.
"Fine." He said.
"Hayes, I can't give you another chance just yet. You cheated on me and I don't know how to feel about that. I will call you later." After saying that I left.
"Babe, please don't do that. Last time you said that you didn't take me back for six months." He pleaded
"It's bad that you have to say 'last time'" and with that I left.
*time passes*
It's been eight months and I called Hayes, we've been dating for the past 7 months because he is everything I want and without him I would have no one.
