Prologue
A/N: Sooo...I've recently started this new anime, Shokugeki no Soma, even though it's slightly perverted, but I LOVE the story line and characters, so I decided to make a Fanfiction! :) ENJOY.
Sayuri
It hurts.
It hurts knowing you're the reason your own mother is dead. It hurts knowing that you changed your family's life just because you were born.
Everything just...hurts.
The impact stings my cheek as I get slapped yet again, tears welling up in my eyes as I force them down.
I'll never give you the satisfaction to see me break. After eight years of this...
"You killed her...you took her away." My father mumbles angrily. "YOU SHOULD'VE BEEN THE ONE TO DIE!"
Don't listen...to him.
Another slap. I fall to my knees.
"You...you ruined our lives!" He shouts, a bottle of alcohol hanging from his enclosed fist.
I wince as he reels his hand back to hit me again, but another hand stops him, and he meets the angry eyes of my older brother.
"Leave her alone!" Ryuu shouts angrily. "You think this is gonna change anything? Huh? Hurting her?" He hisses, glaring menacing daggers.
"Leave. This has nothing to do with you, insolent fool." My father growls.
"It has everything to do with me, Dad!" He shouts. "Or should I even call you that? You're a monster. A cold blooded monster! You think mom would've wanted you to hurt her very own daught-!"
His head's thrown to the side as I let a gasp fall out of my mouth. The red hand print marks on his skin, and his black bangs cover his eyes. He had gotten the looks of my father, while I had gotten the spitting image of my mother.
"We're leaving." He says lowly as he turns to me and releases my father's wrist. "Sayuri, go pack your stuff."
"B-but..."
"Hey." You could still see the anger in his eyes, but it started to slowly melt as he places a firm hand on my shoulder, a small smile crossing his face. "It'll be alright. I'm here for you."
His smile calms me, and I shakily nod before darting up the mansion's stairs, hearing him begin to say something to our father in a hushed, angry tone, but I don't want to stay for it.
Ryuu
"I'm taking her away from this hellhole." I growl to the man who I used to look up to as an inspiration, my eyes burning holes into his blue eyes, which are exactly like mine. "She's all I have left. Mom left, and so did you." I say in a hushed, angry tone, making sure my little sister doesn't hear. "The difference is that you didn't die. You left. You left the minute mom's heart rate beeped and she died. You're now a cold, empty shell, who can't be fixed."
I said it. Every word I've kept bottled up inside for the past 14 years, tumbled out of my mouth, and I didn't regret one bit of it.
His mouth turns into a frown. "You are no child of mine. Begone. Take your mistake of a sister with you."
"She's going to surpass you one day." I say as I turn my back. "She's going to surpass you, and show the whole world what she can do. I'll be there for her. I'll be there for her all the way when you couldn't. Not because you can't, but because you chose not to." He turns his head one last time to the man who now has anger in his eyes. "Goodbye, Ren."
Normal POV
"Are you ready?" Ryuu questions his little sister, who glances back and nods. The two siblings have all their rightful belongings in bags, that are packed in the car Ryuu had bought himself.
"C-can I say something to him?" Sayuri questions quietly as Ryuu nods and takes her bag.
"I'll be waiting." He offers her another reassuring smile, but she can't seem to give one herself as she heads back into the house, something tucked into her pocket.
She sees her father once more, sitting on the couch with the bottle of alcohol on the coffee table, his hands holding his head as if he's in deep thought.
"F-father?" Sayuri stutters. He doesn't respond. He doesn't even look at her, but she knows he can hear her.
"I...I remember the time you brought me to your restaurant when I was little." She begins with a small weak smile. "How you used to teach me the ways of the kitchen."
Still no response. She sighs. "I-I just wanted to say I'm sorry. I'm sorry for taking her life away. I'm sorry for her wanting to have me even when she knew she couldn't handle it...but," she swallows. "I'm not sorry to say that you need help. You can have all the fame in the world, but...it's sad, isn't it? Some people are so poor, all they have is money." She states with a sad smile. "And I'm sorry that...you will always be my father, but you were never or never will be, my dad."
She slips the box from her pocket and sets it down on the coffee table, his eyes still staring blankly ahead of him.
"It's...something from mom." She whispers. "It's something that was very special and important to her...and you'll know why."
With that, she turns on her heel and exits, slamming the door shut behind her as all the tears she's been building up all come out at once.
