Talking to Myself

Am I even allowed to say this?
The words get stuck in stomach like a punch.
I'm talking with a smile that I don't mean.
They say, "come with a shield..." - I'm rather on it.

I'm bad at combating bad habits;
If you were one, then I'm already lost.
I shouldn't ever try to be possessive,
But the less I say - I want you more.
